Race 1 on point brewery maiden plate - 1540 metres:

Highly Regarded (NZ) Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Jenni Bam Bam Rider Ben Moffatt explained that his mount travelled well, however in his opinion did not appreciate the tight turning circuit when placed under pressure.

Prized Magic Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn.

Race 2 kyabram hire services trophy race (2) - 1540 metres:

Apollo Sun Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider Caitlin King reported that it was not her intention to pressure the leader, Stella Cantante, however when her mount commenced to race keenly she had difficulty restraining it due to the reins slipping through her hands.

Lord Chapel Rider Dani Walker dropped her whip passing the 100m. D Walker reported that, in her opinion, the gelding would be better suited in races over further distance than todays 1540m.

Sir Lazarus (IRE) Slow to begin.

Race 3 reddrops supermarkets open trophy race - 1540 metres:

Eight Under Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Pro Velocity (NZ) Slow to begin. Rider Tracey Johnson reported that, in her opinion, the mare would be better suited in races over further distance than todays 1540m.

Understated After entering the mounting enclosure lost its off-hind plate and had to be re-plated. Examined by the RV Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the barriers and was passed suitable to race. Laid out rounding the turn from the 500m until straightening.

In Your Hands (NZ) Rider Charlie Brooks reported that, in his opinion, the mare would be better suited in races over further distance than todays 1540m.

Race 4 alexandra quality meats maiden plate - 1300 metres:

Zouthila Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 5 alexandera COUNTRY & western meeting 28 december 2026 trophy race (2) - 1300 metres:

Adiuro Rider Ben Moffat reported that after passing the winning post his mount went amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a serious racing injury. Subsequently Adiuro was humanely euthanased.

First Tosen Raced wide without cover throughout. Rider Tracey Johnson was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out fully the finish.

Safe And Warm Slow to begin. Rider Dani Walker reported that the gelding failed to travel and, in her opinion, it did not appreciate backing up after racing at Yea on 17 October 2026.

Slippery Thinker Lost its off-fore plate in the tie-up stalls and was re-plated. Examined by the RV Veterinary Surgeon on arrival at the barriers and was passed suitable to race. Over the concluding stages raced in restricted room to the inside of Duel Missile, which laid inwards, and as a result was unable to be fully tested to the line.

Springer Time Began awkwardly.

Race 6 whanregarwen pastoral open trophy race - 1300 metres:

Besson Struck itself en route to the start and shifted its off-fore plate. After being re-shod on arrival at the barriers was examined by the RV Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.

Epicus Began awkwardly.

Red Stiletto Slow to begin, then shortly after the start was eased when crowded for room between Lika Mosh and Epicus.

Annoyen One Laid out rounding the turn from the 500m until straightening and as a result made the home turn wider. Rider Shaun Cooper reported that his mount did not appreciate the tight turning track.

Other Comments / Explanations:

Riders T Johnson, M Morris & S Cooper were all fined $200 under the provisions of AR218(4)(b) for having possession of their mobile phones in the jockeys room. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account their guilty pleas, forthright evidence and that after inspection it appeared they had not used the devices.

Race 1 TOP FINISHERS MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres:

Mwamba Slow to begin

Highly Regarded Performed below market expectations. Rider S Cooper could offer no explanation for the poor performance.

Last Bus Home When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer G Webb reported that, last start, the mare had cast on plate during the event, and this was detrimental to its performance. He added that it was suited by the addition of blinkers to its gear.

Race 2 DINDI AG MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

Gentoo Slow to begin. Rider G Xiberras reported that the gelding failed to travel throughout the event.

Zouthila Slow to begin.

Dunnenkate Bro Over raced in the early and middle stages. Rider R Kirkpatrick reported the gelding failed to respond when placed under pressure and would be better suited on tracks with more give.

Duel Missile Approaching the 150m become unbalanced after dipping.

Couldbetracy Passing the 100m was eased to avoid the heels of Maristela which shifted in and away from Duel Missile.

Race 3 WHANREGARWEN PASTORAL TROPHY (2) HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Oriental Dane Began awkwardly.

Sir Lazarus Slow to begin.

Safe and Warm Began awkwardly.

Elite Pete Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Was crowded inwards over the final 100m by Monsoon Reins which was laying inwards. Rider B Moffat reported as a result, he was unable to fully ride the gelding out to the finish.

Machinegun Krelley Laid inwards under pressure in the straight.

Race 4 LARNOO OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Kings Taj Slow to begin.

First Tosen On jumping away was steadied when crowded outwards onto Midivani by Schroders Mistake which jumped outwards and as a result First Tosen lost ground. When questioned as to whether she should have placed the gelding under pressure sooner, rider T Johnson reported that after suffering interference at the start, the gelding settled further back than intended. She added that she did not wish to place the gelding under pressure too early and she did not think it would finish off. She therefore waited until the 400m to ride her mount along.

Mallee Maid Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Race 5 VLP YEA OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Redwood Shadow Slow into stride.

These Boots Raced keenly in the early stages and as a result shifted out off heels near the 1000m and raced wide for the remainder. Passing the 100m was eased when briefly crowded for room.

Race 6 ROYAL MAIL HOTEL YEA TROPHY RACE (2) HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Shintaro Samurai After being fractious in the barriers was withdrawn before then breaking free and galloping for a considerable distance before being recaptured. Was declared a late withdrawal on Vets Advice at 4:52pm. Trainer D Julius was advised that prior to racing again the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded.

All successful bets on horses prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket:
