After Race 1, Rowan Cox was medically stood down from the remainder of his rides.
Race 2 - bet365 MAIDEN PLATE - 1008 metres:
Doubt I'm Rich Slow to begin, then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded for room between Peep Show and Reel Quoot which shifted out, and as a result lost ground. Raced wide without cover throughout.
Reel Quoot Began awkwardly, shifted out and as a result was slow into stride.
Now Perform Began awkwardly. Approaching the 400m was carried wider by Peep Show. Eased down over the concluding stages.
Gypsy Warrior Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Hayhat Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 75m was eased when close to the heels of Miss Lum when laying in under pressure. Continued to lay in for the remainder of the event. When questioned as to whether he could have maintained a position on the rail rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, rider Ray Douglas explained his instructions were to race where balanced with cover to endeavour to finish the race off. He added that passing the 400m he elected to shift to the outside of Gypsy Warrior to gain clear running as he believed a run would not eventuate in front of him. However, he was obliged to concede ground and shift out to the outside of Miss Lum to gain clear running, where his mount then laid in under pressure. He agreed with Stewards that in hindsight he should have maintained his position on the rail, where a run did eventuate at the time he elected to shift out, as it would have afforded his mount a more economical run over the concluding stages.
Peep Show Laid out approaching the 400m.
Race 2 - WONTHAGGI CLUB TROPHY RACE (1) HANDICAP - 1008 metres:
Prior to correct weight being declared, rider Ray Douglas (3rd placegetter, Honey Slider) lodged a protest against Persuasive Star (1st placegetter, Shaun Cooper) on the grounds of alleged interference from the 150m. After viewing the Stewards' footage, it was established that over the concluding stages, Honey Slider raced in restricted room to the inside of Persuasive Star and rider Ray Douglas could not ride his mount out fully. However, due to the margin being over a length and a quarter and that Stewards could not be satisfied that Honey Slider gained full running to the inside of Persuasive Star, Stewards dismissed the protest and correct weight was declared.
Jim Bob Slow to begin. Rider Natz Blacker was spoken to advisedly by Stewards under the provisions of AR 132(6)(c) regarding his use of the whip on his mount when out of contention.
Flower Gallery Bounded as the start was effected.
Honey Slider Passing the 100m was eased when disappointed for a run to the inside of Persuasive Star and went to the line untested.
Race 3 - TRUCKS FINAL DASH OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 2308 metres:
Dente's Inferno Stewards permitted Ray Douglas to ride the gelding 1 kilogram overweight, being a late riding change. Commenced a wide run passing the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Sacra Slow into stride.
Understated Raced wide in the early stages. When asked for an explanation as to the improved performance, trainer Peter Foster explained that Understated did not appreciate the firm and shifty surface at Buchan at its previous start on 14 February 2026 and as a result the gelding improved on today's suitable track conditions.
Eight Shout's Raced wide in the early stages before striding forward and obtaining the lead passing the winning post on the first occasion.
Foggy Bottom Passing the 1600m laid in.
Toscana Rising Raced wide from the 1000m. Passing the 50m was awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening Eight Shout's and as a result shifted in.
Acey Deucy A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer Charles Gafa was advised that the gelding must obtain a veterinary certificate prior to racing again.
Carlito Brigante Approaching the 1400m was checked from the heels of Eight Shout's (Ben Moffat) which shifted in when insufficiently clear.
Rider Ben Moffat (Eight Shout's) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 131(a), in that approaching the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Carlito Brigante which was checked and lost its rightful running. Rider Ben Moffat had his licence to ride in picnic races suspended for 3 race meetings, with the period to commence on Sunday 1 March 2026 and expire on Saturday 14 March 2026. Accordingly, Ben Moffat will be able to return to ride on Sunday 15 March 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and that the incident was in the mid-range.
Race 4 - 888 RACING WOOLAMAI WHIRLWIND OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 888 metres:
The start was delayed due to Italian Informant having its bridle adjusted at the barriers after the gelding got its tongue over the bit.
Italian Informant Began awkwardly. Hung out from the 500m.
Citaleon Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn near the 250m was carried wider by Belriah which was laying out.

Race 5 STEPHEN MANION CUP - 2008 metres:
Rough Edges Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, due to not racing since November 2024, and was passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly. Rider Angela Bence reported that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo of today's event. A. Bence was also spoken to advisedly by Stewards under the provisions of AR 132(6)(c) regarding her use of the whip on her mount when out of contention. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
Triginta Due to no suitable rider being available, Stewards permitted Natz Blacker, who is eligible to claim 3 kilograms, to replace Rowan Cox. Passing the 200m was hampered and shifted out to avoid the heels of Pride Of Pariah which shifted in when its rider became unbalanced and was almost dislodged.
Mwamba Slow to begin. Passing the 1200m, when the pace slackened, commenced a run three wide and settled in a handy position.
San Angelo Slow to begin. Passing the 600m, when racing in restricted room to the inside of Triginta, was eased outwards across that gelding's heels (Natz Blacker). Natz Blacker was severely reprimanded and notified to leave sufficient room for runners to his inside in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
The Dish Watcher Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping with Bay Of Joy. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider Adam Roustoby was spoken to advisedly by Stewards under the provisions of AR 132(6)(c) regarding his use of the whip on his mount when out of contention.
Bay Of Joy Bumped at the start. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Librarchy's Dancer Raced keenly in the lead in the early and middle stages.
Pride Of Pariah Passing the 200m shifted in after rider Leigh Taylor became unbalanced and was almost dislodged when using his whip. Leigh Taylor was spoken to advisedly by Stewards regarding his riding technique and balance.
Race 6 WONTHAGGI MOTORCYCLES & POWER EQUIPMENT TROPHY RACE (3) HANDICAP - 1608 metres:
Majority Interest Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, due to not racing since March 2025, and was passed suitable to race.
Redabout Due to no suitable rider being available, Stewards permitted Jasmine Trenwith, who is eligible to claim 2 kilograms, to replace Rowan Cox.
Shintaro Samurai Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Rider Jack Virgona reported after being slow to begin, he was unable to obtain a handy position and after travelling wide throughout, this was detrimental to its overall performance.
Littlebirdie Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously throughout, getting its head up on a number of occasions. Passing the 800m was steadied to avoid the heels of Redabout and as a result shifted out.
The Village Fox Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 150m. Passing the 300m was checked off the heels of Sierra Sun. Passing the 150m shifted out and bumped Indian Hills.
Nasrin Raced four wide without cover throughout.
Enough War Rider Cameron Thompson reported that he was instructed to find a comfortable position in the lead where the mare could travel in a rhythm. He added that it was not his intention to establish a significant margin, however the mare was travelling well in that position until the concluding stages. He further stated that, in his opinion, the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer Geoff Brunsdon confirmed the instructions and added that he will monitor Enough War's recovery after today's event.
Indian Hills Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before striding forward at the 1000m and settling in a handy position one off the fence. Approaching the 150m was bumped by The Village Fox (Shaun Cooper) which shifted out and as a result Indian Hills became unbalanced and was checked. Rider Leigh Taylor reported that the mare may have come to the end of its current preparation. Trainer Peter Foster reported that he will make an assessment of the mare in the days subsequent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
Rider Shaun Cooper (The Village Fox) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR 131(a), in that approaching the 150 metres, he permitted his mount to shift out from behind Sierra Sun when insufficiently clear of Indian Hills, bumping that mare, which became unbalanced and was checked. Rider Shaun Cooper had his licence to ride in picnic races suspended for 3 race meetings, with the period to commence on Sunday 1 March 2026 and expire on Saturday 14 March 2026. Accordingly, Shaun Cooper will be able to return to ride on Sunday 15 March 2026. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and that the incident was in the mid-range.

When further questioned regarding his riding in the back straight, in particular where Vidacii was restrained to trail Maristela (Maddison Morris) passing the 1000m, he stated that Maristela had improved to his outside and that, at that stage, he received a call from that mares rider advising that her saddle had slipped forward and that she had limited control of her mount. He explained that at that stage he elected to restrain Vidacii to allow Maristela to cross to the lead and settle on the rail. He added that once he had restrained the gelding, he then attempted to shift to the outside and improve his position, however stated that the gelding is one-paced and that restraining his mount at that stage of the race was detrimental to its performance. He further added that the gelding is better suited to shorter-distance events due to its one-paced racing pattern.
Maristela Rider Maddison Morris reported that her saddle slipped passing the 1700m, and as a result she was obliged to allow her mount to stride forward to race outside the leader, Vidacii. Trainer Mr Troy Kilgower confirmed the instructions, however was surprised to see Vidacii take up the outright lead.
