Race 2 STOTTYS LAST DASH OPEN TROPHY HANDICAP - 2350 metres:
Duclair Slow to begin (3L). Rider Mr. G. Seccombe reported that the gelding was fractious in the gates prior to the start. He added that his instructions were to lead in todays event, after beginning poorly he elected to encourage his mount into a forward position and eventually settled outside the leader near the 2000 metres. In his opinion the gelding is better suited to leading on his own, rather than settling outside the lead and not being able to obtain the lead today was detrimental the geldings finish. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Puzzling Wonder Rider Ms. M. McDonald reported that her instructions were to settle where the gelding felt comfortable and after beginning well found herself in the lead with little effort. She added that the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event, and when asking for an effort approaching the 800 metres, failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, G. Seccombe rider of Angelsreach (2nd placegetter), lodged an objection against Cheeky Prince (1st placegetter) alleging interference in the straight.
