Race 4 OPEN TROPHY - 1008 metres:
Governor Of Punjab Whilst being mounted, became fractious and dislodged rider Tyson Barton. Tyson Barton was examined by medical staff and passed fit to ride. Whilst being remounted, the gelding was reluctant to go to the start, again became fractious, dislodging Tyson Barton. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Governor of Punjab at 3.05pm. Trainer Peter Foster was notified Governor Of Punjab must compete to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a jump out prior to racing again for its behaviour.
All monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on the late scratching to be refunded.  All successful bets on the horse prior to time of withdrawal are subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket:

Race 5 TROPHY RACE (3) - 1200 metres:
Barringer Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider Dani Walker reprimanded for failing to ride gelding to the end of the race.
Luvme Or Leevme Slow to begin (2L).
Barringer Rider Jack Virgona was reprimanded for failing to ride mare to the end of the race.
Main Beach Raced keenly in middle stages. When asked about the improved performance, stable representative Angela Barton, explained the gelding had been racing too keenly in recent races to settle in the lead or close to the lead. She said today, rider Tyson Barton was asked to try and find cover, which he was able to, which afforded Main Beach to opportunity to finish the race off.

Blue Train Raced wide with cover in the early and middle stages.
Laststrikeyourout At the request of rider Shaun Cooper, who expressed concern with the mares action, underwent a veterinary examination at the start. Slow to muster early speed. Eased down from passing 200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 2 b e water products maiden - 1200 metres:
Mr. G. Seccombe, rider of Elegant Lad, which finished third past the post, lodged an objection against Infinite Gold (Ms. D. Walker), being declared second on the grounds of alleged interference in the straight. It was established that passing the 100m Elegant Lad had established a run to the inside of Infinite Gold and to the outside of Master Kostya (Mr. S. Cooper). Shortly after approaching the 75m, Infinite Gold commenced to hang in and in doing so took Elegant Lad in and onto the heels of Master Kostya. On this bases Stewards were of the view that if the interference had not occurred that Elegant Lad would have finished ahead of Infinite Gold. Stewards upheld the objection and amended the placings, declaring correct weight on the numbers;

Elegant Lad Approaching the 75m taken in by Infinite Gold onto the heels of Master Kostya and obliged to steadied.
Infinite Gold Rider Ms. D. Walker reported that the gelding wanted to lay in through the entire event. Hung in, in the straight.
Mackong Fortune Raced wide in the middle stages.
Master Kostya As there was no suitable available apprentice, Stewards acceded to a request from trainer Mr. D. McCarthy to replace Ms. C. Masters with a senior rider.
Miss Redcoat Stood flat footed and missed the start (8L). Relucted to stretch out in the middle stages. Eased down over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr. D. Dwyer was notified that the mare is now suspended from racing until completing a jump out to the Stewards satisfaction. Mr. D. Dwyer reported that a decision on the mares racing future will be made in the coming days.
Race 3 Gutter cup trophy(1) handicap - 1200 metres:
Angel Toff At the entrance to the straight raced tight to the inside of Shotchu (G. Seeccombe) for a short distance before being corrected by its rider. Mr G. Seecombe was reminded of his obligations to not shift when insufficiently clear of other runners.
Sebring Star Slow to begin. Approaching the 1000m raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of Bon Torr Mor (Mr. J. Sanders) before being eased and blundering when on the heels of Relyonbella (NZ) (Ms. M. McDonald). On the balance of all evidence before the stewards, it was felt that not any one rider was at fault and so no action was taken other than to remind all riders to ride in a safe manner. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Bimmies Twin Late scratching at 10:15am due to swelling in a near fore fetlock. Trainer Mrs. Bamford was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required before the mares next engagement.
Race 4 coldstream brewery handicap - 1200 metres:
Chillydog Slow to begin.
Kuroyume Lost an off fore plate in the run.
Dark Dixen Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 5 old ivanhoe grammarians cricket club nmca quick sheild premiers maiden - 1650 metres:
Bold As A Button Tightened and hampered on jumping away between Ruby Acheeva, which was taken out by Parramatta (NZ) and Yankee Spirit, which was awkward to begin, losing significant ground.
Bond Of Trust Shortly after the start shifted in, bumped and had his hindquarter turned out by Yankee Spirit.
Parramatta (NZ) Very awkward to begin shifting out bumping Ruby Acheeva. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Ruby Acheeva Bumped and taken out at the start by Parramatta (NZ). Raced keenly in the early stages. When the tempo of the race eased passing the 1000m, elected to shift wider and stride until crossing to the lead near the 800m.
Yankee Spirit Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced ungenerously for the majority of the event.
Rosy Bubbles Raced wide in the middle stages of the event.
Race 6 barrier international trophy(2) handicap - 1650 metres:
Beauweevil Raced ungenerously in the early stages of the event whilst being restrained. Raced wide in the middle stages.
Mycharliegirl Raced keenly in the early stages. Elected to shift out passing the winning post of the first occasion and allowed to stride until finding the lead approaching the 1000m
Miss Keira Had to steadied at the entrance to the straight when on the heels of Mycharliegirl and had some difficulty obtaining a clear run until passing the 100m.
Squibbly Dibbly Rider Ms. B. Wright reported that in her opinion the gelding failed to see out a strong 1650m in todays event.
Rider Mr. R. Douglas pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii). The particulars of the charge being that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 metre mark, which is 2 more than is permitted. Mr. R. Douglas permit to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of 1 meeting to commence midnight 16 April 2022 and to expire midnight 17 April 2022. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mr. R. Douglas exceptional record, as Mr. R. Douglas has not been spoken to in relation to this rule since 2010, his guilty plea and his total use (18). Additionally, Mr. R. Douglas was fined the sum of $100.

Henrys House Near the 600 meters was bumped by Flatley which shifted out marginally. Near the 150m was taken wider by Aladdin Sane (Shaun Cooper) which shifted out to improve. Rider Shaun Cooper was advised to take greater care when shifting ground in the future.
Hampton Shanks Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Race 2 canary capital trophy(3) handicap - 1600 metres:
Royal Deel Was fractious in the barriers. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced wide in the early stages until allowed to stride forward to settle behind the leader near the 1000 meters.

Race 3 noel egan memorial open hanidcap - 1600 metres:
Correct Weight was delayed to allow Mr. Kirkpatrick, the rider of the 3rd placed horse Mr Zhivago to view the official photo finish before agreeing with the numbers semaphored by the judge.
So You Shop Commenced awkwardly getting its head up on a number of occasions and as a result was slow to begin.
Grande Marengo On return to scale rider Leigh Taylor explained after beginning well and being caught wide in the early stages he elected to allow Grande Marengo to stride forward and settle behind the leader which was further forward then he had intended.
 
Race 4 alpine civil maiden - 1200 metres:
Elegant Lad Near the 700 meters was eased when tightened for room to the inside of Mr Zhivago (Craig Kirkpatrick) which shifted in. Rider Craig Kirkpatrick was advised so show far greater care when shifting ground in the future. Performed below market. Rider Grant Seccombe reported that the gelding raced flat throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Master Kostya Unplaced favourite, Rider Catherine Masters could offer no explanation for the geldings performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have tied-up in the hindlegs. The stable was notified that they would be required to provide a veterinary clearance prior to Master Kostya being permitted to race again.
Mr Zhivago Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arrival on course, due to not having started in a race since December 2020, and was passed fit to start. Made the crossing near the 800 meters awkwardly.
Miss Redcoat Stood flat footed. Trainer Don Dwyer was advised that a waring would be placed on the mare.
Night Duty Made the crossing near the 800 meters awkwardly.
 
Race 5 MARKS IGA TROPHY(2) HANDICAP - 1200 metres:
Correct Weight was delayed to allow Ms Dani Walker, the rider of the 2nd placed horse Fullforward and Ms Chelsea Heard, the rider of the 4th placed horse Destinys Dee Day to view the official photo finish before agreeing with the numbers semaphored by the judge.
Kingdom Fighter Beaten Favourite. Rider Shaun Cooper reported the gelding made the crossing near the 800 meter awkwardly. He further added in his opinion Kingdom Fighter is suited to distances less then todays 1200 meter event.
Ofenbach Stood flat footed and trailed the field though-out. The stable was notified that the gelding was now suspended until such time as Ofenbach trials to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jump out or official trial and gains an approval to race. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on a post race veterinary examination. Ofenbach shall not start in any race until the stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of competleting a satisfactory gallop of 1000 meters.
 
Race 6 FOODWORKS OPEN HANDICAP - 1100 metres:
Dominant Way Commenced awkwardly.
Fullforward When questioned in regards to her riding in the middle stages rider Dani Walker stated that Full forward failed to respond to her riding until the 600 meters however finished the event of strongly.
Destinys Dee Day Raced at Kyneton on Thursday 31st March 2022. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was passed fit to start.

Race 1 CHARLIE BOOTH MEMORIAL MAIDEN - 1200 metres:
Eevavessance Rider L. Taylor was reminded of his obligations in relation to his using his whip forward of the horses shoulder.

Race 2 charles milan jaw inaugural classic trophy(1) handicap - 1000 metres:
Shotchu Slow to begin.
At Large Slow to begin. Near the 200 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of Relyonbella which shifted in before being straightened by its rider.
Kingdom Fighter Rider J. Hanley accidentally dropped his whip near the 200 metres. Performed below market expectations. Rider J. Hanley reported that although the gelding raced keenly in his opinion it finished the race off quite well. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Gem Edition Near the 800 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of Lady Zoffany which was taken in by Ramu before that mare was straightened by its rider. Checked passing the 100 metres when tightened for room by Kingdom Fighter which was taken in by Ramu which shifted in when not clear.
Ramu Approaching the winning post raced tightly to the inside of Lady Zoffany which had shifted in under pressure. Lost a near fore plate during the event.
Dark Vixen Has not raced since July 2020, underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection upon arrival on course and was passed fit to race.
Infinite Gold Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Near the 100 metres was steadied off the heels of Shotchu which shifted out.
L. Taylor rider of Ramu pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being that near the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along tightening the running of Kingdom Fighter, which resulted in that gelding being taken in and tightening Gem Edition, resulting in that mare losing its rightful running and having to be checked. L. Taylor had his license to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 2 April 2022 and to expire midnight 17 April 2022, a total of 3 picnic race meetings. In arriving at penalty, Stewards took into account his excellent record and guilty plea, and deemed the incident to fall in the mid-range.
 
Race 3 MATTHEW OBRIEN MEMORIAL HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Hawkestone Performed below market expectations. Rider D. Walker reported that in her opinion the gelding was not suited by its high weight impost today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
King And King Laid out under pressure in the early part of the straight.
Fullforward Rounding the home turn shifted out under pressure before being straightened by its rider.
Copthorne Near the 200 metres was steadied when racing in restricted room between Hawkestone and King And King (M. Morris) which shifted out. Miss M. Morris was notified that she must stop riding and straighten her mounts much sooner than she did on this occasion.
 
Race 4 cindy mcleish mp golden thong handicap - 2350 metres:
Do It In Purple Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.
 
Race 5 mal lugg memorial maiden - 1650 metres:
Correct Weight was delayed to allow Mr. T. Barton, the rider of the 2nd placed horse Daliapours Turf to view the official photo finish image before agreeing with the numbers semaphored by the judge.
Daliapours Turf Approaching the winning post shifted in slightly under pressure.
Gracies Secret Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride to obtain the lead near the 1200 metres.
Rodneys Legacy Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained to obtain a position nearer the fence at the rear of the field near the 1200 metres. Acting upon a report from the starters that Rodneys Legacy was fractious in the barriers trainer Ms T. Cunningham was advised that a warning would be placed against the horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making a respiratory noise. A veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination is required prior to being permitted to race again.
Ruby Acheeva Hampered on jumping away when bumped by The Bartender which had knuckled and shifted out. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
The Bartender Knuckled on jumping away, shifted out and made heavy contact with Ruby Acheeva.
Beverley Anne Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide in the early stages before being permitted to stride to obtain a position outside the leader the 1200 metres.
Rosy Bubbles Near the 400 metres laid out then raced tightly to the inside of Daliapours Turf which shifted ground marginally and as a result was steadied. Approaching the winning post raced tightly to the inside of Night Duty which was taken in slightly by Daliapours Turf.

Gracies Secret Rider Mr. D. Dean reported his mount wanted to lay out rounding the turn at the 1100m.
Beverley Anne Awkward to begin, shifted out and bumped with Rain Boy.
Gus The Bus Rider Mr. T. Barton reported that in his opinion the gelding failed to handle the tight turning track.
Rain Boy Approaching the 1100m was checked when in restricted room between Henrys House (L. Taylor) which had shifted in marginally and Beverley Anne (C. King) who was taken out by Gracies Secret (D. Dean) which was laying out rounding the turn. Under the circumstances Stewards could not lay blame for the incident on any one rider and reminded all riders to take far greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 5 cathedral lodge and golf club 2022 alexandra cup - 1540 metres:
Quail Hollow Rider Mr. R. Douglas reported that when he placed his mount under pressure in the straight it failed to respond to his riding and was only fair to the finish.
Foxtrot Mo Awkward to begin.
Chillydog Slow into stride.
Trumps In Wide without cover in the middle stages of the event.
Testa Boom Raced keenly in the early stages. Passing the 400m was eased out of the race. On arrival by the official Racing Victoria Veterinarian the horse was found to have a serious racing injury and was humanly euthanised. This incident will be referred to the Equine Welfare and Veterinary Department. As Ms M. McDonald was attending to Testa Boom and being assessed by the doctor, she was unable to weigh in. Acting under the provisions of AR208(3)(a), Stewards declared Correct Weight in her absence. Rider Ms M. McDonald was examined by the doctor and passed fit. A post mortem sample was taken from Testa Boom.
Race 6 whanregarwen pastoral trophy(3) handicap - 1830 metres:
Tyrannto Raced wide in the middle stages of the event.
Fonteinbolt Held up for a short distance passing the 300m until entering the straight.
Livandas Raced wide in the early stages of the event until being allowed to stride forward and settle outside the lead approaching the 1000m.

Race 2 ITS A GREALY GREAT! HANDICAP - 1350 metres:
Tyson Barton, rider of Overcharged, which finished second past the post. Viewed the stewards patrol film and lodged an objection against, Force Awakens (Jack Virgona) being declared first placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 400 metres. It was established that passing the 150 metres, when under pressure, Force Awakens shifted in towards Overcharged brushing with that gelding. Stewards noted that there was contact made between the runners however, bearing in mind the manner in which both horses were finishing the race off, could not be comfortably satisfied that had the slight brush passing the 150 metres not occurred that Overcharged would have finished in front of Force Awakens and therefore they dismissed the objection and Correct Weight was given.

Prior to weight being given, the club official inadvertently semaphored the incorrect placings which were then broadcast. The correct placings were then semaphored by the judge and rebroadcast on course before correct weight was declared.
Calyspo Rich Near the 700 meters was bumped and taken wider by Low Altitude (Dani Walker) which shift out. Dani Walker was advised to exercise far greater care when shifting ground in the future.
Race 4 INTERSALES TROPHY(1) HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
At Large Near the 500 meters had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between Shotchu (Grant Seccombe) and Wacky Wombat (Caitlin King) both runners shifting ground. All riders were advised to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstance.

The particulars of the charge being that he used his whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metre mark, which is 5 more than is permitted. J. Sanders permit to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings to commence midnight 20 February 2022 and to expire midnight 5 March 2022. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account J. Sanders guilty plea, record and the totality of his whip use (14).

Passing the 300m was disappointed for a tight run between Hard To Kiss, which was laying in and Foxtrot Mo. Passing the 150m steadied and shifted out over the heels of Foxtrot Mo and Hard To Kiss to continue his run and was held up until passing the 100m.
War Tiger (USA) Re-saddled on arrival to the barriers. Change of tactics to settle further back than its most recent starts. Settled midfield. Rider T. Barton reported that in his opinion the gelding would derive benefit from todays run and would also appreciate a step back in distance at its next start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Chillydog Reared up as the start was affected and lost ground (10L). Trainer Mr. P. Foster was advised that the gelding is now required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Material Mistress Rider Melinda McDonald pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the particulars being that near the 1100m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Damit, resulting in that gelding being checked. Melinda McDonald had her licence to ride in races suspended for a period of two picnic race meetings, to commence midnight 5th February and to expire midnight 19th February 2022. Stewards took into consideration her guilty plea, relative inexperience, and unblemished careless riding record.

Runaway Max Performed below market expectations. Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an irregular heart rhythm. Trainer Mr. D. Dwyer was notified that Runaway Max is suspended from racing until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the result of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000m.

A post-raced veterinary examination revealed the filly to have slow recovery.

Act of Aggression On return to scale rider Mr. S. Cooper reported that the mare felt amiss when returning to the mounting yard. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr. A. Dale was advised that a veterinary certificate will now be required for the mare.

Rider Mr. J. Hanley pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii). The particulars of the charge being that he used his whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100 metre mark, which is 6 more than is permitted. Mr. J Hanleys permit to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings to commence midnight 26th January 2022 and to expire midnight 5 February 2022. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Mr. J Hanleys guilty plea, good record, that it was a feature race and the totality of his whip use (17).

Shotchu Eased off the heels of BImmies Twin when laying out rounding the home turn. Laid out over the concluding stages.

Rain Boy Rider Mr. D. Dean reported that in his opinion the gelding would appreciate the reapplication of the tongue tie to its approved race day gear. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Copthorne Performed below market expectations. Rider J. Sanders reported that gelding travelled well however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
 
Race 5 EVERGREEN TURF MAIDEN - 1608 metres:
Baldock On straightening, approaching the 200 metres clipped the heels of Flying Basil (C. King), which shifted out to gain clear running, faltered and dislodged rider D. Waymouth. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Flying Basil Passing the 400 metres steadied from the heels of World War Two. Evidence was taken from C. King, rider of Flying Basil and D. Walker, rider of World War Two, on the evidence and the available footage, Stewards could not determine whether Flying Basil had gained a run to the inside of World War Two at which point had shifted away from the running rail slightly. Stewards notified both C. King and D. Walker to ride with due care.
Lost In Time Hampered near the 200 metres by Baldock which had clipped heels and dislodged its rider.

World War Two Rider D. Walker reported that near the 600 metres her mount faltered and laid out and again laid out slightly near the 400 metres.
C. King rider of Flying Basil pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being that approaching the 200 metres she permitted her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Baldock, resulting in the gelding clipping heels, faltering and dislodging its rider D. Waymouth and as a consequence, hampered Vision Of Glory and Lost In Time. C. King had her license to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 15 January 2022 and to expire midnight 19 February 2022, a total of 6 picnic race meetings. In arriving at penalty, Stewards took into account her very good record and guilty plea, however her actions had caused a fall and that the carelessness fell into the high range.

The race was delayed 55 minutes due to waiting for an air ambulance to transport rider D. Waymouth to hospital.
Escentual Stewards acceded to a request from trainer R. Waymouth to scratch the mare due to her horse dislodging her mother in the previous race. Late scratching at 4.10pm.

Other Comments / Explanations:
Following the running of Race 1, it was established that barrier stall 5 had been damaged and was unable to be repaired. For this reason this barrier was not used for the remainder of the meeting.
Race 1 NICOLA WEARS THE PANTS MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:
Miss Carouge Fractious once loaded into the barriers, reared and became cast. Late scratching at 1:26pm on veterinary advice. Trainer Mrs. C. Patterson was advised that the mare will have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the right ribs.
Mackong Fortune Broke through the front of the barriers and galloped for some distance, breaking through the outside plastic running rail and returning to the horse stalls area before being recaptured. Late scratching at 1:26pm on veterinary advice. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the nose and left stifle.
Eevavessance Late scratching at 1:26pm on veterinary advice. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Secret Surprise Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Made the crossing at the 400 metres awkwardly and raced tight to the inside of Tornado Flame for a short distance thereafter.
Toranado Flame Rider Mr. J. Virgona reported that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages but was disappointing in the straight.
 
Race 2 STOTTYS LAST DASH OPEN TROPHY HANDICAP - 2350 metres:
Duclair Slow to begin (3L). Rider Mr. G. Seccombe reported that the gelding was fractious in the gates prior to the start. He added that his instructions were to lead in todays event, after beginning poorly he elected to encourage his mount into a forward position and eventually settled outside the leader near the 2000 metres. In his opinion the gelding is better suited to leading on his own, rather than settling outside the lead and not being able to obtain the lead today was detrimental the geldings finish. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Puzzling Wonder Rider Ms. M. McDonald reported that her instructions were to settle where the gelding felt comfortable and after beginning well found herself in the lead with little effort. She added that the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event, and when asking for an effort approaching the 800 metres, failed to respond to her riding. In her opinion the gelding failed to run out a strong 2350 metres.
Sostenido (NZ) Approaching the 500 metres improved onto the heels of the weakening Puzzling Wonder and as a result had difficulty obtaining clear running until the entrance to the straight.
Cheers Big Ears Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Race 3 THE PUNTING HITMEN TROPHY(2) HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Amorem Shortly after the start shifted in and bumped Kingdom Fighter taking that gelding in onto Little Red Rooster.
Call Me Stirling Slow to begin (2L).
Kingdom Fighter Shortly after the start bumped by Amorem and carried in onto Little Red Rooster.
Little Red Rooster Bumped and hampered shortly after the start by Kingdom Fighter. Had difficulty obtaining clear running at the entrance to the straight for a short distance.
Ramu Began awkwardly.
 
Race 4 THE JOHN OBRIEN OPEN TROPHY HANDICAP - 1000 metres:
Drain The Swamp Performed below market expectations. Rider Ms D. Walker reported that the gelding, which was first up from a spell, was not suited to todays soft track conditions and failed to travel throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Kuroyume Laid out under pressure in the straight.
I Fought The Law Slow to begin.
Jocks Passing the 50 metres was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Kuroyume which was laying out.
 
Race 5 THE NO FUSS EVENT HIRE HEALESVILLE CUP TROPHY - 1650 metres:
Chillydog Began awkwardly with its head up and lost ground. Performed below market expectations. Rider J. Virgona reported that after beginning only fairly, travelled wide in the early stages before electing to stride forward. In his opinion the gelding had to do too much work in the early stages and as a result failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Aladdin Sane Slow to begin. Passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of Rileys Rocket, bumping with Chillydog, taking that gelding wider on the track. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
Fleet Dreams Raced keenly in the lead in the early and middle stages.
Hard To Kiss Slow to begin.
Blinky Oreilly Raced three wide without cover from the 800 metres.
Manhattan Zip Raced four wide from the 1000 metres.
Rider Mr. J. Sanders pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii). The particulars of the charge being that he used his whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100 metre mark, which is 6 more than is permitted. J. Sanders permit to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of 2 meetings to commence midnight 15 January 2022 and to expire midnight 26 January 2022. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account J. Sanders guilty plea, good record, that it was a feature race and the totality of his whip use (14).
 
Race 6 THE FOREY STAKES TROPHY(1) HANDICAP - 1650 metres:
Mikaylas Pride Began awkwardly. Eased down over the final 100 metres. Performed below market expectations. Rider Mr. J. Virgona could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
Cheeky Prince Raced three wide in the middle stages.

Race 3 matho electrical maiden - 1008 metres:

Chancey Gardener Held up for clear running from the 300 metres until the 200 metres. Lay in from straightening until approaching the 100 metres. Rider S. Cooper reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Infinite Gold When questioned in regard to his riding over the final 100 metres, Rider R. Douglas stated that after passing the 100 metres the gelding put in several strides where it felt uncomfortable in its action and for this reason he did not ride it out to the end of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Designer Portrait Dipped on jumping. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Miss Redcoat Slow to begin. Near the 300 metres became unbalanced when racing close to the running rail.

Oh So Manhattan Approaching the 700 metres when racing keenly was steadied away from the heels of Infinite Gold (R. Douglas) which shifted in whilst being eased. Rider R. Douglas was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in future. Hung out from the 600 metres until straightening.

Secret Surprise Held up from the 400 metres to the 200 metres when placed close to the heels of Oh So Manhattan which was hanging out.

 

Race 4 mickey gordon island dash trophy(1) - 1008 metres:

Copthorne Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Shotchu Near the 300 metres when attempting a neat run shifted out and became unbalanced when awkwardly placed to the inside of Gem Edition which had shifted in marginally.

Gem Edition Began awkwardly.

 

Race 5 michelle taylor fine vintage maiden - 1508 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, C. King rider of Flying Basil (3rd placegetter), lodged an objection against Cheeky Prince (1st placegetter) alleging interference in the straight. On the evidence and relevant footage it was established that on straightening Cheeky Prince had improved around Flying Basil and that approaching the 100 metres, then commenced to shift in making contact with Flying Basil which was taken in onto Angelsreach resulting in Flying Basil being hampered and steadied. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference suffered was greater than the margin of 0.7 lengths, they dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges placings.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, G. Seccombe rider of Angelsreach (2nd placegetter), lodged an objection against Cheeky Prince (1st placegetter) alleging interference in the straight. On the evidence and available footage it was established that approaching the 100 metres, Angelsreach was brushed by Flying Basil which had been taken in by Cheeky Prince before Angelsreach then shifted in and away from Flying Basil. As Stewards were comfortably satisfied that the indirect interference suffered was not greater than 0.5 lengths, they dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the judges placings.

Baldock Pulled hard in the early stages before settling outside the leader near the 1200 metres. Rider D. Waymouth reported that the gelding is better suited being ridden with cover and lost its tongue tie during the event. Lost its near fore plate during the event.

Cheeky Prince Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Near the 500 metres was brushed and carried wider on the track by Flying Basil which shifted out to improve. Near the 100 metres shifted in, when laying in and bumped with Flying Basil.

Flying Basil Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 100 metres was bumped and taken in by Cheeky Prince (J. Hanley) and made contact with Angelsreach and as a result was hampered and steadied.

Through The Haze Slow to begin and trailed the field throughout.

Angelsreach Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 100 metres was brushed by Flying Basil and shifted in.

Selvedge Had some difficulty obtaining clear running from the 400 metres until straightening.

J. Hanley, rider of Cheeky Prince pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a), the carelessness being that approaching the 100 metres he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding along, resulting in Flying Basil being bumped and taken in onto Angelsreach and as a result Flying Basil was hampered and steadied. Rider J. Hanley had his permit to ride in picnic races suspended for a period commencing midnight 2nd of January 2022 and to conclude at midnight the 9th of January 2022 a total of two picnic race meetings. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record and relative inexperience, noting that this was his first ever breach of this rule and that the incident was deemed to be in the mid range.

 

Race 6 shanks Electrical handicap - 1608 metres:

Akhurst Over-raced passing the winning post on the first occasion. Laid out rounding the home turn.

RVLs hot weather policy was enacted prior to Race One.

 

Race times were moved forward the day prior to the meeting to better align with other meetings in the State which had been brought forward due to extreme hot weather forecasts. The times were amended to Race 1 1.00pm; Race 2 1.35; Race 3 2.10; Race 4 - 2.50; Race 5 3.30; Race 6 4.10.

 

Stewards and all riders engaged in the early races inspected the track prior to Race 1, after several soft patches were detected by Stewards after arriving on course, particularly near the 500 metres and just prior to the 600 metres. After walking each area riders indicated that they were satisfied that the track was safe for racing, and Stewards agreed that with the small fields today and a reasonable level of rider awareness that the track was safe for racing.

Starcrippa Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the straight.

 

Urgent Raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages of the race before being eased near the 500 metres to obtain running closer to the rail, from which point the mare began to give ground. An examination by RVs Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the race revealed no abnormalities.

 

Race 4 YARCK MEAT AND PRODUCE TROPHY (1) HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

 

Few Are Steadied when laying out turning out of the straight the first time, when tightened for room by Catbluroo, (C.Kirkpatrick) which shifted in before being straightened by its rider. Craig Kirkpatrick was reprimanded and advised to ensure that he exercises far greater care in future. Weakened badly in the straight. An examination by RVs Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the race revealed no abnormalities.

 

Catbluroo Rider Craig Kirkpatrick was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out right to the line, which he did not do on this occasion. Stewards were of the opinion that his actions did not have a bearing on the placings.

 

Runaway Max Near the 250 metres was accidentally struck over the head by the whip of Craig Kirkpatrick, rider of Catbluroo.

 

Race 5 elders merton cup - 1900 metres:

 

The start of this race was delayed approximately ten minutes due to the ambulance staff being required to attend to a member of the raceday staff.

 

Derek The Viking slow to begin. Rider Ray Douglas was reminded of his obligations in respect to RVs whip policy after using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres. Stewards took into account that the totality of whip use was eight, and that Ray Douglas had not had a whip offence for over ten years.

 

Duclair Beaten favourite. Rider Shaun Cooper stated to Stewards that after racing forward but being denied the lead, which is its normal racing pattern, the gelding struggled to finish off the race, keeping in mind that it was coming back from 3000 metres at its previous start to todays distance of 1900 metres, and that the race was run in close to record time. An examination by RVs Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the race revealed no abnormalities.

 

All Brown Rider Grant Seccombe was fined the sum of $50 under the provisions of AR131(c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

Prior to the first race the starting stalls broke, which resulted in them being unusable. Under the provisions of AR199, Stewards ordered all races to be conducted under a flag start. All participants were spoken to, and all agreed to proceed under those conditions.

Calypso Rich raced wide in the early stages, before allowed to stride to settled outside the leader.

Vision Of Glory began awkwardly.

Secret Surprise slow to begin. Raced wide with out cover from the 700m.

Filine enroute to the start rider K. Bailey was harmlessly dislodged. A subsequent veterinary examination of Filine was passed suitable to race.

Lustful Lass underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course, having not raced since 15 February 2020, and was passed suitable to race. Raced in restricted room inside of Calypso Rich over the final 50m.

Race 4 CUTTING EDGE ELECTRICAL DROUIN CUP - APPOXEMITLY 1775 metres:

Earl Of Kendal (NZ) rider J. Virgona reported that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, however, was disappointing when it failed to respond to his riding and may have jarred up. A post- race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in front. Trainer R. Caldwell was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again.

Kazoom (NZ) rider M Gretton reported that when pace of the race slackened near the 1200m, the gelding commenced to race keenly and was allowed to stride to settle outside the leaders near the 700m, however, when wide without cover.

Dynamic Moss rider C.King dropped her whip passing the 200m.

Prior to the commencement of the meeting Stewards enacted the Racing Victoria Hot Weather Policy.

 

All horses competing in Race 3. were examined on arrival by the Racing Victoria Veterinarian and passed suitable fit to race.

 

Race 1 PHILIP LOBLEY WINES TROPHY(2) hANDICAP 2140 metres:

Cheers Big Ears Made the crossing near the 1700 metres awkwardly and then shifted out hampering Zinferno (NZ). Rider D Walker reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout and may be suited by the addition of some head gear to its racing gear.

All Too Creedy Near the 1000 metres shifted out marginally away from the running rail and was then eased when placed close to the heels of Zinferno (NZ). Near the 300 metres had to be steadied when attempting a neat run to the inside of Cheers Big Ears.

Zinferno (NZ) Near the 1700 metres was hampered and carried out by Cheers Big Ears which had shifted out. The saddle on the gelding commenced to slip forward through the early stages of the race which placed rider J Virgona at somewhat of a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

 

Race 2 UPBUILD TROPHY(2) HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

The Brightside Slow to begin. Bumped with Bimmies Twin shortly after the start. Bumped with Bimmies Twin near the 300 metres and again near the 200 metres.

Runaway Max Began awkwardly. Shifted out making contact with Starcrippa shortly after the start.

Talk About Tom Raced keenly in the middle stages. Rider B Wright reported that the gelding failed to handle the undulating track conditions, dipped on several occasions and hung out when under pressure. B Wright further added that due to the gelding hanging in the manner in which it did, she was unable to ride the gelding out in her usual vigour over the final 150 metres. Stewards noted her comments. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Bimmies Twin Hampered shortly after the start when bumped by The Brightside. Raced three wide without cover until passing the 800 metres. Near the 600 metres shifted in and away from Starcrippa which had shifted in marginally. Bumped with the Brightside near the 300 metres and again near the 200m.

Starcrippa Which had not raced since June of 2020 underwent a pre-race veterinary examination by the RV Veterinarian and was passed fit to race. Contacted shortly after the start by Runaway Max Raced four wide without cover until passing the 600 metres. Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.

Little Red Rooster Near the 600 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of Bimmies Twin which shifted in and away from Starcrippa which had shifted in marginally.

Shujuka Near the 700 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Feisty Flame. Rider J Sanders could offer no explanation for the performance of the mare other than in his opinion it would be suited by a step up in distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Squibbly Dibbly Late scratching 8:02am. Stewards severely reprimanded trainer R. Caldwell under AR181(3) due to the circumstances of the geldings late scratching.

 

Race 3 fOODWORKS sITSTER OLIVE HANDICAP - 3000 metres:

Can Get A Witness Performed below market expectations. Rider S Cooper could offer no explanation for the performance of the mare. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Duclair Rider T Johnson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) the particulars of the charge being that she used her whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metres, which is 5 more than permitted. T Johnson had her permit to ride in races suspended to commence midnight the 28th of December, 2021 (at the conclusion of her suspension incurred at Healesville on the 11th December, 2021) and to expire at midnight the 8th of January, 2022, a period of 3 picnic race meetings. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account T Johnsons guilty plea, totality of her whip use, poor record in relation to the rule and that her mount won the race. T Johnson was further fined $100.

Race 4 ROYAL MAIL HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

Burchmore Laid in under pressure in the straight. After passing the winning post shifted out abruptly and dislodged Ms. McDonald. Acting under the provisions of AR208(3)(a), Stewards were satisfied that the horse carried its allotted weight and Correct Weight was declared in her absence. M McDonald was examined by the RV medical staff and cleared of any injury.

Cheeky Prince Raced four wide without cover throughout. Near the 200 metres was bumped and carried wider by Needsaname, which shifted out after improving onto the heels of Unanachored, which had shifted in and way from Butchmore which had shifted in when laying in.

Needsaname Near the 200 metres improved onto the heels of Unanchored, before shifting out and making contact with Cheeky Prince.

Escentual Commenced awkwardly.

Unachored Raced three wide without cover. Near the 200 metres shifted in and away from Burchmnore

 

Race 5 WHANREGAREN PASTORAL 0-55 HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Hierarchal Near the 600 metres raced in restricted room to the inside of Warrigal Mac. Rider D Waymouth reported that the gelding would be better suited racing in races of a further distance.

Foxtrot Mo Commenced awkwardly. Near the 500 metres became unbalanced for several strides after brushing the running rail.

Fullforward Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Manhattan Zip Performed below market expectations. Rider J Virgona reported that gelding was not suited to the fast early tempo and failed to respond to his riding in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Warrigal Mac Stewards permitted J Hanley to ride the gelding 0.5kg over the allotted weight due to their being no other rider available.

 

Race 6 KEITH ALDOUS APPRECIATION THROPHY(3) - 1600 metres:

Catbluroo Approaching the 100 metres had to be checked when tightened for room by Dynamic Moss (D Walker) which shifted in when not clear.

Mishe Mowka Raced wide without cover from the 1200 metres.

Readily Rewarded Commenced awkwardly.

Mutapa Raced keenly in the early stages.

Rider D Walker was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) the particulars of the charge being that approaching the 100 metres she made insufficient effort to attempt to straighten her mount which shifted in, resulting in Catbluroo being tightened for room and checked. D Walkers licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence midnight the 18th of December 2021 and to expire at midnight the 28th of December 2021 a period of 2 picnic race meetings. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account D Walkers exceptional record, noting her last suspension for careless riding was in February 2009 and that the incident was in the low range.

Correct weight was delayed to allow L. Taylor rider of Billieo (4th place) to view the stewards patrol footage before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Copthorne Approaching the 500m mark had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of Bimmies Twin.

Im A Buonarroti Held up for clear running from the 400m until inside the 200m mark.

Viking Myth M. McDonald was harmlessly dislodged on route to the barriers. Raced four wide without cover throughout the event. On pulling up Viking Myth collapsed after the completion of the race and was subsequently found on arrival by the official Racing Victoria Veterinarian to be deceased. This incident will be referred to the Equine Welfare and Veterinary Department. As M. McDonald was attending to Viking Myth and being assessed by the doctor, she was unable to weigh in. Acting under the provisions of AR208(3)(a), Stewards were satisfied that the horse carried its allotted weight and Correct Weight was declared in her absence. Rider M. McDonald was passed fit to fulfill the rest of her engagements.

At Large Slow to begin. Had difficulty in obtaining a clear run at the entrance to the straight for a short distance.

Ramu Held up at the entrance to the straight for a short distance. Held up and obliged to steadied when racing tight between Marsoom and At Large over the final 50m.

Bimmies Twin Raced three wide without cover throughout.

Urgent Rider J Hanley reported that the mare did not appreciate the fast early tempo of the race and in his opinion, this was detrimental to the mares finish. A post-race veterinary examination failed to find any abnormalities.

Burchmore Got its head up at the start. Raced wide without cover in the middle stages, until being allowed to stride forward and settling outside the leader passing the 700m.

Fair Tina Knuckled at the start. Began to weaken from the 500m.

Miss Current Held up behind the weakening Fair Tina from the 400m until the 200m.

Blue Train Beaten ($1.90 fav) Rider R. Douglas reported that the gelding felt uncomfortable in front. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Mutapa Rider D. Walker reported that when racing keenly approaching the 1200m she became unbalanced and as a result the saddle slipped forward, placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. Passing the 1300m whilst racing keenly had to steadied off the heels of Zinferno. Travelled wide from the 1000m until settling outside the leader passing the 700m.

Race 7 THE INTERFACETILING OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1650 metres:

Rileys Rocket (NZ) Slow to begin. Rider D. Walker reported that the gelding failed to travel in the early and middle stages and when she asked for an effort, failed to respond to her riding. Trainer T. Cunningham advised stewards that in her opinion the gelding is better suited to tracks with more give. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Hard To Kiss Rider Ms A. Bence pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii). The particulars of that charge being that she used her whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m mark, which is 6 more than permitted. Ms A. Bences license to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of two race meetings, to commence midnight the 11 December 2021 and to expire midnight 26 December 2021. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Ms. A. Bence record and her sparing use of the whip over the final 100m.

Taylor reported that the mare was agitated pre- race and was caught wide without cover, which was detrimental to its chances A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Peppino raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider J.Hanley was reprimanded for consecutive whip use prior the 100m. Further, he was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

Walker reported the gelding laid in throughout and she had advised connections to add a tongue tie and lugging bit to geldings gearA post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding lost the right fore plate during the event and no other obvious abnormalities were detected.
Race 6 LYN TREGELLIS OPEN TROPHY RACE - 1600 metres:
Aladdin Sane raced four wide without cover.
Gracies Secret rider R Douglas reported that the gelding raced keenly throughout and as a result failed to finish off. He added that he had advised connections the gelding would be better suited dropping back in distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
