Race 1 ts constructions trophy - 1008 metres:

Maldestro Refused to jump as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Keenan was advised that the gelding is suspended from racing until it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards in a jump out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Molly Dook Approaching the 150 metres was disappointed for a run to the inside of Charlies Ticket before being shifted to the outside of Little Red Rooster to improve.

Southern Silver Raced three wide for the majority of the event.

Vendetta Miss Rider D. Walker reported that the mare would derive benefit from todays event after resuming from a short freshen up.

Race 2 5 blind handicap - 2308 metres:

Eyes Are Blue (GB) Raced wide without cover in the early stages.

Johnny Romance Near the 1200 metres eased to obtain cover behind Eyes Are Blue (GB).

Riverina Explorer Raced three wide without cover in the middle stages. Lost its near-fore plate during the event.

Diamond Geyser (IRE) Slow to begin.

Undergroundfighter Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding his tactics in the middle stages, rider J. Virgona stated that the gelding, which was resuming from a lengthy spell failed to travel through the middle stages and for this reason got further out of his ground than anticipated. He added that he was mindful that being near the 1200 metre mark it was not in his mounts best interest to place it under considerable pressure to regain contact with the field and was of the view that he would be better placed to keep his mount balanced. He further added that he was pleased with how the gelding ran on when placed under full pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight.

Little Cranach Rounding the home turn near the 400m became unbalanced when awkwardly placed on the inside of Mr Gogarty which was weakening.

Race 3 stefan barbour showers with g. earth p/l maiden - 1608 metres:

Hooroorob Slow to begin. Near the 600 metres momentarily steadied when tightened for room between Plenty Of Fish and Pearly Dazzler which shifted ground before being straightened by its rider.

Pearly Dazzler Raced wide without cover in the middle stages.

Stagecraft Lost its near-side hind plate during the event.

Fayes Opal Stood flat footed, lost ground and then was reluctant to stride in the early stages. Rider M. Keenan that mare may not have appreciated the addition of the off-side bubble cheeker for the first time. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Trainer C. Littlefield was notified that warning would be placed on the mare.

Race 4 san remo & district community bank handicap - 1508 metres:

The start of the race was delayed 4 minutes due to Nick The Barman casting its off-hind plate and having to be replated on arrival at the barriers.

Maldonado (NZ) Rider L. Taylor reported that geldings performance was disappointing and that connections indicated that they were considering retirement. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hind. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the coming days.

Derek The Viking Under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) Rider M. Keenan was fined $100 for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100 metre mark. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his record in relation to whip breaches.

Cheners Began awkwardly.

Muckup Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Nick The Barman Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.

Race 5 WONTHAGGI WORKMENS CLUB HANDICAP - 1508 metres:

Blunderbuss Rider M. Keenan reported that he was pleased with the performance of the gelding and that he would be better suited to races over further distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Drovers Yarn Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Rider J. Sanders reported that his saddle slipped during the event, placing him at a disadvantage.

Grazie Mille Slow to begin. Near the 1000 metres when racing keenly was steadied from the heels of Blunderbuss.

On pulling up following the event, rider S. Cooper, suffered a harmless fall. He was examined by the on-course doctor and passed fit to continue riding.

Race 6 alex scott & staff 2020 woolamai cup - 1708 metres:

Celestial Sky Lost an off-hind plate during the event.

Step On It Raced without cover for the majority of the event. Rider S. Cooper reported that geldings performance was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the left hind. Trainer R. Cunningham was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.

Race 7 san remo hotel handicap - 1008 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards viewed the photo finish before agreeing with the judges placings. Rider L. Taylor (4th placegetter) viewed the Stewards patrol film before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Bay Of Faith Approaching the 50 metres inconvenienced by Dominant Way which shifted out when laying out.

Daskarzine Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Lost a near-fore plate during the event.

Dominant Way Lay out under pressure in the straight.

Sleepy Cat (NZ) Lost its off-fore plate during the event.

Mighty Moshe Change of Tactics. Intention to lead. Led.

Dishys Began awkwardly.

Supplementary Report

Ron Hockley Saturday 8 February 2020

Racing Victoria (RV) Stewards have concluded an inquiry into an incident which occurred at the Healesville racecourse on Saturday 01 February 2020.

Licenced trainer Ron Hockley pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching Australian Rules of Racing 227(a).

AR 227(a)

Without limiting any other powers, a PRA or the Stewards may penalise any person who:

(a) Commits any breach of the rules or engages in in conduct or negligence which has or could have led to a breach of the rules;

The summary of the particulars is that subsequent to the final race at the Healesville race meeting on Saturday 01 February 2020, Mr Hockley engaged in a verbal altercation with Licensed Trainer Don Dwyer and directed inappropriate language towards him in the horse stalls area. After considering all the circumstances, Mr Hockleys record and guilty plea, Mr Hockley was fined the sum of $400.
