Race 1 - Kennelly, Fay, Hales, Kane, Watt, Moore, 50th Anniversary Maiden - 1200 metres:

Korak Proved difficult to load. Trainer Russell Green was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record. Rider C King reported that her mount, which was first up from a spell, did not travel comfortably during the middle stages and as a result lost ground despite her urgings. She added that Korak would take benefit from todays race and would be better suited over further with the addition of a tongue tie.

Rendezvous Creek Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Rider D Walker reported her saddle slipped back near the 800 metre mark placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

Following the running of race one, Stewards upgraded the track to a Soft 5 at 1:28pm.

Race 2 - The Doc Paterson Trophy Race(1) Handicap - 1200 metres:

Courese Controls When questioned regarding her tactics, in particular during the middle stages where her mount lost ground on the field, rider C Heard explained that when crossed by other runners near the 1000 metres Courese Controls dropped the bridle despite her urgings, and for this reason she commenced to ask her mount for a greater effort near the 900 metres. She added that when she commenced to ride the mare with the whip near the 400 metres, Courese Controls made good ground to the winning post. After viewing the footage of the race, C Heard conceded that she may have been better placed to show a greater urgency to make contact with the field after leaving the 900 metres, however bearing in mind her inexperience Stewards took no direct action other than to advise her that she must endeavour to ride all her mounts in a manner which leaves no room for query. Following the event trainer R Manning reported that the mare was showing signs of being in season. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Lima Lass Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.

Trust In Time Raced wide without cover. Rider D Walker reported her mount laid in during the middle stages.

Race 3 -  Alpine Airwork & Rural Hardware Supplies Open Trophy Race - 1200 metres:

Race 4 - Elders Rural 'Alec Manning' Hinnomunjie Cup  - 2000 metres:

Manny Raced wide without cover throughout the event. When questioned regarding his tactics, rider J Virgona explained that he was instructed to lead the event, and after beginning only fairly he commenced to ride his mount from the start. He said that a short distance after the start the early tempo appeared strong, and as a result he was caught wide without cover. He added that near the 1200 metres he considered restraining his mount to get cover behind Johnny Romance, however as he had ridden Manny hard during the early stages the gelding was reluctant to come back underneath him. He added that near the 800 metres he felt the tempo of the race quicken, and therefore he commenced to place his mount under pressure at this time. After viewing the footage of the race, J Virgona conceded that it may have been beneficial to his mount to wait to place Manny under full pressure, given that he had been obliged to race wide throughout the event. His comments were noted.

Sheer Force When giving ground near the 400 metres, became unbalanced when tightened for room by Shanghai Rooster which had improved into a tight run on the inside of Johnny Romance. Rider S Cooper reported that the mare, which finished at the rear of the field, may not have ran out the distance of todays event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Shanghai Rooster Slipped behind on jumping away, got its head up and lost ground.

Race 5 - TAC Race Ready & Eastern Quarried Inc Maiden - 1600 metres:

The Diggings Rider D Walker pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii), the particulars of the charge being that she used her whip on ten occasions prior to the 100 metre mark. D Walkers licence to ride in picnic races was suspended for a period of one picnic race meeting, commencing midnight 15 March 2020, and to expire midnight 21 March 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account her guilty plea and record in relation to whip breaches.

Trinzanno Eased down from the 500 metres. Rider G Seccombe reported that the filly travelled well during the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Thomas was advised that the filly would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jumpout prior to racing again. He indicated that connections were considering retiring Trinzanno.

Race 6 - ABA Resources Open Trophy Race Handicap - 1600 metres:

Burgundee Miss Eased down rounding the home turn. Rider G Seccombe reported the mare failed to travel at any stage during the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer T Kilgower was advised that the mare was now suspended from racing until such time it performs to the satisfaction of Stewards in a jumpout.
