Other Comments / Explanations:

Due to a delay in the early morning track report being issued, Stewards extended the closing of scratchings for the meeting until 8am.

Race 1 -  Willaton, Wyndham and Noel Nobby Pendlebury Memorial Maiden Plate - 1000 metres:

The Frisco Kid Began awkwardly with its head up and lost ground. When laying in near the 200 metres, raced closed to the heels of Grey Nurse and had to be steadied as a consequence.

Welcome Back Lucas Lay in when under pressure rounding the home turn and in the straight, proving difficult for rider M Keenan to ride out in his usual manner.

Grey Nurse Slow to begin.

Race 2 -  Gippsland Grain Store, TAC Buchan Plate Open Trophy Handicap - 1000 metres:

Not Approved Raced wide without cover throughout the event. Lay out rounding the home turn. Lay in when under pressure in the straight.

Force Awakens Slow to begin.

Race 3 - Salon Classique, Nowa Nowa Store Trophy (2) Handicap - 1700 metres:

Catbluroo Lay in when under pressure in the straight.

All Brown Passing the 1600 metres was carried in by Pistol (M Keenan) which shifted in when not clear.

Last Dance Slow to begin. Rounding the home turn and until the 150 metres was held up when unable to obtain clear running before then obtaining a tight run on the inside of Pistol. Approaching the winning post raced tight to the inside of Pistol.

Youngstown Passing the 1600 metres was checked to avoid the heels of All Brown, which had been carried in by Pistol (M Keenan) that shifted in when not clear. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the mares off front cannon.

Joanne Geddes (The Diggings) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii), the particulars of the charge being that she used her whip on eleven occasions prior to the 100 metre mark. Joanne Geddes licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one picnic race meeting commencing midnight the 22nd of February and to expire midnight the 23rd of February. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account her guilty plea and record in relation to whip breaches.

Max Keenan was found guilty of a charge under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being that passing the 1600 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of All Brown, carrying that runner across Youngstown resulting in All Brown being steadied and Youngstown having to be checked. In issuing the charge Stewards conceded that Youngstown was over racing in the lead up to the incident. Max Keenans licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two picnic race meetings commencing at midnight 23rd of February 2020 and to expire at midnight 7th of March 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Max Keenans excellent race riding record (first careless riding charge in over four years of race riding), the racing manners of Youngstown during the incident and the fact that the carelessness qualified for the low range of careless riding.

Race 4 - Buchan Station, Buchan Caves, Buchan Pub Buchan Cup - 1700 metres:

Earthling Lay out rounding the home turn. Rider Shaun Cooper pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii), the particulars of the charge being that he used his whip on ten occasions prior to the 100 metre mark. Shaun Coopers licence to ride in races was suspended for one picnic race meeting, commencing at midnight 23rd of February 2020 and to expire midnight 29 February 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his guilty plea and record in relation to whip breaches.

Blunderbuss Began awkwardly.

Tycoon Felix Rider Caitlin King was fined $100 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.

Dont Shoot Raced wide without cover.

Speed Stinger Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced ungenerously during the early stages.

Race 5 -  Bairnsdale Sporting and Convention Centre, Lakes Apartments, Exchange House Trophy (1) - 1200 metres:

Angel Toff Raced wide without cover throughout the event.

Faith In Beers Began awkwardly.

Race 6 - Buchan Life Members, Duke Family Open Trophy Handicap - 1200 metres:

Zai Bu Zai Raced wide without cover.

Lizzys Kid Slow to begin.

Champenoise Raced wide without cover.

Something Missing Vetted on arrival after being fractious in the float on route to the course and was passed fit to start.
