When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today, rider T Johnson stated that she had not been given any specific instructions on the gelding other than to ride it in a similar manner to its previous starts where it has settled in the lead. T Johnson stated that on jumping she placed her mount under pressure to ensure that she was able to obtain a leading position and that after doing this the gelding commenced to pull hard. T Johnson added that through the early and middle stages she was mindful of the substantial lead in which she had established on the remainder of the field though the gelding continued to pull hard whilst in the lead and was reluctant to settle despite her efforts. She therefore allowed her mount to race where it was comfortable, before the gelding then commenced to give ground from the 600 metres. Rider T Johnson stated that in hindsight she should have made a greater effort to restrain the gelding in the early and middle stages as the tempo in which Im Peter travelled at through this stage of the event was not sustainable.
