When questioned regarding why he was so far out of his ground in the early stages, Apprentice rider Jack Virgona explained that he wasnt aware how far back from the rest of the field he was until passing the 800m, when he urged his mount to improve. Apprentice rider Jack Virgona was shown footage of the race in the presence of Peter Hutchinson (RV Jockey Mentor) and was spoken to advisedly in that he needs to do more in similar circumstances to keep contact with the bulk of the field given the short distance of the race.

ALBRAKA Rider Toby Lake was fined the sum of $100 for weighing-in, in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight (AR145).

MR GOGARTY Trainer Ray Caldwell was severely reprimanded for presenting Mr Gogarty without its approved gear.

THE TALE OF AVER When questioned regarding his tactics on the gelding, Apprentice rider Jack Virgona explained that his instructions were to sit just off the pace. He said after beginning well and racing keenly in the early stages he made insufficient effort to restrain his mount and consequently took the lead passing the 1000m. He said, passing the 700m, he elected to ride his mount along in an attempt to establish a break on Florence, which was some distance in front of the remainder of the field, however his mount responded only moderately before commencing to weaken passing the 400m. Apprentice rider Jack Virgona was shown footage of the race in the presence of Peter Hutchinson (RV Jockey Mentor) and was spoken to advisedly regarding making better efforts to follow instructions and to give his mount every chance of finishing the race off.

Race 6 J. A. CAIN REAL ESTATE TROPHY RACE (3) HANDICAP - 1608 metres:

SHACKLEYS HILL Rider Toby Lake reported that his mount made a respiratory noise in the straight, and therefore this was the reason that he did not ride his mount out to the end of the race. Rider Toby Lake was severely reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

BREAKNECK BANDIT Apprentice rider Dylan Dean was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip 3 times more than permitted before the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account the totality of his whip use in the straight.

TOSS THE BOUQUET Rider Dani Walker reported that after beginning awkwardly, her mount failed to muster any early speed, losing contact with the field. She added that the mare made good ground late, and would be better suited over a longer journey.

MISS VONLOZZI Near the 250m was tightened for room between Turning Times and Smart Talk, which had shifted out slightly before being taken out by Shackleys Hill, who had also shifted out slightly.

SHES A HEADTURNER Apprentice rider Jack Virgona reported that his mount would be better suited over a longer journey. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
