Race 5 reddrops foodworks sister olive open trophy handicap - 3000 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight C King rider of I Carus (3rd Placegetter) lodged an objection against It Could Be You (1st Placegetter) alleging interference in the straight. On evidence it was established that I Carus had shifted out rounding the home turn allowing It Could Be You to obtain running to its inside, then near the 200 metres I Carus then commenced to lay out under pressure bumping with Yalta, while It Could be You also shifted out when laying out under pressure with both horses shifting ground out simultaneously. It Could be You then continued to lay out under pressure over the concluding stages. As stewards were satisfied that the inference suffered was not greater than the official margins of a head and 1 lengths stewards declared correct weight on the judges placings. At a further inquiry C King was fined $100 under the provisions of AR165(3) for lodging an objection which, in the opinion of stewards was frivolous.

Family Pride (NZ) Commenced awkwardly. Lay in under pressure in the straight.

I Carus Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Lay out under pressure in the straight. Near the 200 metres when laying out bumped with Yalta.

Yalta Near the 1400 metres carried wider on the track by Mr Gogarty which shifted out when pulling hard. Approaching the 400 metres bumped and carried out by It Could Be You (D Walker) which shifted out after being checked. Lay in under pressure in the straight. Near the 200 metres bumped by I Carus. Passing the 75 metres had to be eased when tightened for room by Family Pride and I Carus both of which shifted ground marginally.

It Could Be You Approaching the 400 metres had to be checked and shift out when racing close to the heels of Mr GoGarty which had commenced to weaken and Yalta which was racing to the outside of It Could Be You, as a result of this Yalta was bumped and carried wider on the track. Rider D Walker was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR137(a) for shifting ground and advised to ensure that there is sufficient room when attempting to obtain runs in future.

Mr GoGarty Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Near the 1700 metres became awkward on the running rail unbalancing its rider. Passing the 1400 metres when pulling hard was permitted to stride around the field and settle in the lead.

Race 6 royal mail hotel trophy race (3) handicap - 1600 metres:

Kidfontein Over-raced in the early stages.

Run Adam Raced wide in the early stages before striding forward to settle behind the leader passing the 1000 metres.

Bettys Thrill Had some difficulty in obtaining clear running rounding the home turn. Lay in under pressure in the straight.

Becerikli Tactics queried. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today, rider G Seccombe stated that he was instructed by trainer T Kilgower to ride the gelding in a forward position if possible and that after beginning well from the barriers he permitted his mount to stride forward to obtain the lead in the early stages. G Seccombe further added that he was reluctant to restrain the gelding as it can over-race and for this reason he continued to allow the gelding to stride forward resulting in him establishing a large margin upon the rest of the field. G Seccombe stated that while in hindsight he might not have established such a margin upon the rest of the field the gelding responded to his riding well in the straight.
