Race 1 mansfield constructions maiden plate - 1200 metres:

In Fright (NZ) Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 150 metres brushed on the hind quarters by Pointing which lay in.

Pointing Lay in under pressure in the straight.

Moss and Me Over-raced in the middle stages. Raced wide without cover from the 800 metres.

Race 2 mansfield courier maiden plate - 1600 metres:

Yokohama Slow to begin.

Mighty Magpie Made the crossing at the 1300 metres awkwardly becoming unbalanced.

Embrace the Force Approaching the 100 metres disappointed for a run between Mighty Magpie and Yokohama which shifted in marginally. Performed below market expectations. Rider Raymond Douglas reported that the gelding raced one paced and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Race 3 high country tree services trophy race (2) HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Moshink Over-raced in the early stages.

Carlsen Passing the 1000 metres when racing keenly had to be eased off the heels of Moshink.

Holyroodhouse Lay in under pressure in the straight.

Race 4 foodworks trophy race (3) handicap - 1100 metres:

No report.

Race 5 mansfield party hire trophy race (3) handicap - 1600 metres:

Derek The Viking Bumped on jumping with Tortured Poet.

Tortured Poet Bumped on jumping with Derek The Viking.

Playboy Spike Commenced awkwardly. Performed below market expectations. Rider Courtney Pace could offer no explanation for todays performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Run Adam Commenced awkwardly throwing its head. Tactics queried. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted on the gelding, particularly throughout the middle stages of the event from the 1300 metres to the 900 metres, Rider Anita Bell stated that she had been instructed to lead on the gelding if circumstances permitted. Anita Bell further added that after finding the lead leaving the straight on the first occasion she attempted to maintain that lead when Up And Downs strode to her outside passing the 1300 metres. Anita Bell stated that when Up And Downs raced to her outside passing the 1100 metres she attempted to restrain the gelding though was unable to do so as it was racing keenly at this point. Anita Bell added that in retrospect she should have attempted to make more of an attempt to restrain Run Adam and allow Up And Downs to stride forward to her outside rather than persisting with the run in which she did resulting in both horses establishing a significant margin upon the rest of the field. Stewards accepted Anita Bells explanation due to her inexperience though noted that she would be expected to show greater initiative when in similar circumstances in future.

Relais Christine Rider Dylan Dean was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A(4)(c) for using the whip on a horse that is out of contention.

Up And Downs Tactics queried. When questioned in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare, particularly throughout the middle stages of the event from the 1300 metres to the 900 metres, Rider Dani Walker stated that she had been instructed by trainer Darren Stumpo to ride the mare positively from the barriers as it has a tendency to be slow to begin and to attempt to keep the mare flowing throughout the event as it can lose interest throughout the race. Dani Walker added that after beginning well she permitted her mount to stride forward and ultimately settle outside Ran Adam near the 1300 metres where the mare was then reluctant to be restrained. Dani Walker further added that she then permitted the mare to stride forward to the outside of Run Adam though was not aware of the margin in which she had established upon the rest of the field, and that she should have been more aware of this margin and attempted to restrain the mare further particularly passing the 1000 metres when Run Adam continued to race to her inside. Stewards noted Dani Walkers comments though were of the opinion that she had erred in her judgement in persisting with a run to the outside of Run Adam through the middle stages and in doing so establishing such a margin upon the rest of the field.

Race 6 catanach plate open trophy race handicap - 1200 metres:

Bowie Rocks Lay out rounding the home turn.

Keep Digging Raced keenly in the early stages. Lay in under pressure in the straight.
