Race 1 NO FUSS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:

Sydney Olympian When weakening near the 150m was momentarily steadied when crowded by Hawksmoor which was making ground to its outside. Rider T. Lake reported that his mount raced greenly throughout the event.

Free To Run Shifted out on jumping and bumped Persue.

Giggling Lass Slow into stride.

Hawksmoor Held up from the 400m until passing the 200m.

Persue Bumped by Free To Run shortly after jumping.

Race 2 PAURIC DEMPSEY 60TH BIRTHDAY OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

Howling Wolf Raced four wide without cover throughout. Cast its off fore plate in running.

Specific Choice Raced three wide without cover throughout.

Bilby Unbalanced shortly after the start after being contacted on the hindquarters by Hard Earned Thirst.

Punjab Rocket Held up for a short distance passing the 300m.

Hard Earned Thirst Rider C. Pace reported that shortly after the start, after being tightened for room between Bilby and Bellefontein and then bumped, the mare did not feel right in its action, therefore she chose not to put it under any pressure throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Race 3 SALLY BRENNAN LABOUR FOR EILDON OPEN TROPHY - 2600 metres:

Sommernachtstraum Vetted on arrival at the barriers at the request of rider T. Lake and was passed fit to start. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Fold Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Allowed to stride passing the 800m to take up the lead.

Ferrero Slow into stride. When questioned regarding her tactics, rider N. Baxter explained that the mare always races in a rearward position and as the mare was stepping up to 2600m today, she was mindful of Ferrero racing keenly, and for this reason she elected to allow the mare to find its feet during the early stages of the event. She said that near the 1400m her mount picked up the bit and made ground quickly on the field, and she then steadied as she was reluctant to put the mare into the race at this early stage, as in her opinion the horse is best saved for one final run. She added that when placed under pressure today, her mount did not respond as she anticipated and made ground only fairly in the home straight. Her comments were noted. Connections advised that they would consider the mares racing future after it has spelled.

Tynong Rocket Got its head up when being restrained near the 2400m. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Race 4 FOUR PILLARS GIN MAIDEN PLATE - 1650 metres:

Prior to correct weight T.Lake rider of Thats All Zariz (second placegetter) lodged an objection against Annas Mystique being declared the winner, alleging interference from the 600m. On the evidence it was established that near the 600m Thats All Zariz was momentarily steadied from the heels of Dream Of Me when racing inside of Annas Mystique. Near the 250m Thats All Zariz was then again momentarily steadied before then maintaining a clear run to the inside of Annas Mystique for the entirety of the straight. As stewards could not be satisfied that the alleged interference on both occasions was as a result of Annas Mystique, and baring in mind the margin of half a neck, after the run to the finish, the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared.

Georgies Mate Slow into stride.

Night Of Regret Slow to begin. Awkwardly placed behind Thats All Zariz who made the 1200m crossing awkwardly. Steadied on several occasions from the heels of Wooped Em Again during the middle stages of the event. Raced in restricted room inside the 100m to the inside of Dream Of Me.

Can Get A Witness A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Thats All Zariz Made the 1200m crossing awkwardly. Momentarily steadied near the 600m and again near the 250m.

Race 5 CINDY MCLEISH MP FOR EILDON GOLDEN THONG - 1650 metres:

The start of this race was delayed by approximately 5 minutes due to the girth having to be replaced on Any Given Day on several occasions.

Victorian Crown Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Earthling Passing the 200m became unbalanced when laying in. Rider reported that the gelding was inclined to shift ground throughout and may not have been suited by the track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

My Dancing Duel (NZ) Began awkwardly.

Keep Happy Near the 300m, steadied from the heels of Any Given Day which was weakening and when racing tight to the inside of My Dancing Duel.

Any Given Day When questioned regarding the tactics, Rider L. Taylor explained that he felt he was neutral out of the barriers, but the gelding then proceeded to over-race and being mindful that his mount has a tendency to choke down, he did not want to fight or restrain the gelding and so he elected to let the gelding stride to take up the lead. After viewing the footage L. Taylor conceded that he may have set too quick of a tempo. Trainer Mr J. Dore confirmed that his instructions to rider L. Taylor were to lead and to let the horse travel comfortably and not to fight the horse as he has a soft palate and when restrained the gelding has a tendency to choke down. He added that whilst he was surprised to see the gelding so far in front, he was happy with L. Taylors ride today. Based on the evidence provided by trainer Mr J. Dore, stewards took the matter no further, however advised L. Taylor that he must ride all mounts in a manner that leaves no room for query.

Murphys Corner Rider D. Dean pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on Murphys Corner on ten occasions prior to the 100m, 5 times more than permitted. D. Deans license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence at midnight the 7th of April 2018 and to expire at midnight following the first picnic meeting of the 2018/19 picnic season, a total of 2 picnic race meetings (dates to be confirmed). In assessing penalty stewards took into account D. Deans guilty plea, and the nature of the breach. Further to this, Dylan Dean was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(i), for using his whip in 4 consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Race 6 MATTHEW OBRIEN MEMORIAL TROPHY RACE(2) HANDICAP - 1650 metres:

Derek The Viking Raced keenly in the early stages.

Moorabool Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages.

Pinkish Raced wide without cover throughout.

Tatler Belle Began awkwardly. Bumped by Shes A Headturner near the 150m.

Jabberjaws Bounded at the start and lost ground.

Shes A Headturner Near the 150m shifted out away from Derek The Viking who had shifted out slightly, and in doing so bumped with Tatler Belle.
