Dually engaged

Gods Crystal When caught three wide without cover early, elected to press forward and take up the lead near the 1600m. Made the crossing at the 1000m awkwardly.

Quiet Ale Raced keenly in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Rider Mr Matthew Corbisiero explained that his mount, which was up in distance today, raced flat and may not have backed up from its previous start at Woolamai on the 7th January 2018. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities and a sample was taken.

Kalaru Girl Held up from approaching the 400m until the 300m.

Powerstretcher Began awkwardly and shifted out and then checked from the heels of Gods Crystal, which shifted in.

Race 2 liz wall lifestyle properties trophy 2 handicap - 2000 metres:

Tortured Poet Post race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. Tortured Poet shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months thereafter; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward.

Earthling Near the 150m was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for a doubtful run to the inside of Golden Tart. Rider Miss Sophie Logan was spoken to advisably.

Treaty Of Paris Rider Mr Toby Lake reported that the gelding failed to run out the 2000m.

Tynong Rocket Raced keenly in the early stages.

Race 3 CROWNBET MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres:

Erawan Rider Miss Dani Walker was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) for using her whip nine times prior to the 100m, which is four times more than permitted.

Jayembee Slow into stride. Rider Miss Peta Tait reported that her mount may have choked down.

Lightning Tiara Slow into stride. Rider Miss Courtney Pace reported that when placed under pressure the mare failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Lochend Emmarose Raced wide without cover throughout.

Magnyte Layout from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg and requires a veterinary certificate of soundness prior to racing again.

Chips In Play Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Rider Mr Matthew Corbisiero reported that he was instructed to obtain cover, which he did, however, this resulted in the gelding over-racing and not finishing the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Delightful Spirit A post-race race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on on both hind legs and to be mildly lame in the off hind.

Wanion Raced wide without cover.

Valleyofthedolls Rider Miss Courtney Pace reported that the gelding raced keenly in the early stages but when asked for an effort from the 500m failed to respond and was eased down in the straight. A post veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.

Unruly Student Rider Miss Peta Tait reported that her saddle slipped at the 250m. At the 250m shifted out abruptly making heavy contact with Bemarydan, which became badly unbalanced.

Russian Rick Rider Miss Courtney Pace reported as the gelding commenced to weaken from the 200m, she felt that it may have choked down and for this reason she did not ride Russian Rick out strongly to the end of the race.  Rider Miss Courtney Pace was reminded of her obligation to ride her mount out fully to the end of the race where possible.

Bemarydan Became badly unbalanced when bumped heavily near the 250m.

Shanghai Rooster Stewards inquired into the ride of Mr Toby Lake on the gelding and in particular between the 300m and 150m. Evidence was taken from Trainer Mr Reg Manning who stated he gave no specific instructions for the 9yo gelding which was first up over a much shorter distance than the horse usually competes at, and from rider Mr Toby Lake who confirmed no specific instructions were given. Mr Toby Lake explained that he rode Shanghai Rooster from the gates for the first 200m however the gelding could not keep contact with the field with the fast tempo, so he elected to balance Shanghai Rooster in the middle stages before placing it under pressure after straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Rider Mr Toby Lake was notified that his riding of Shanghai Rooster between the 300m and 150m was of concern and he should have placed the gelding under pressure prior to straightening. After considering all of the circumstances, Stewards severely reprimanded Mr Toby Lake and reminded him of his obligation to ride all of his mounts in a manner that leaves no room for query.

Race 6 THE AMSTEL CLUB TROPHY 1 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:
