Race 2 AARDVARK ELECTRICAL OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1650 metres:

Typhoon Tyson Slow to begin.

Punton Bernardini Over-raced in the early stages.

Snitzilla Tactics queried. Stewards questioned Ms Peta Tait in relation to the tactics adopted on the mare, particularly her decision to persist in racing in a three wide position outside the leader without cover in the early and middle stages. Ms Tait stated she had been instructed to attempt to lead on the mare, as it is one paced and connections had advised her that the mare races best when ridden in the lead. Ms Tait further added that in retrospect she should have restrained her mount to obtain cover behind McNulty passing the 1200m rather than persist with the run in which she made. Trainer Mr Reg Manning confirmed the instructions to ride the mare in positive position, and further added that the mare appeared to be season following the event. Stewards noted Ms Taits evidence although notified her that she had erred in her judgement in not restraining her mount passing the 1200m to obtain cover.

Hay Buddy Slow to begin. Lay out rounding the turn. Passing the 500 meters shifted out while laying out hampering Ragtime which was carried out and bumped with Ace King. Performed below market expectations. Rider Ms Courtney Pace stated that the gelding lay out throughout and in her opinion may not have appreciated todays track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Ragtime Hampered passing 500 meters by Hay Buddy which shifted out. Hung out rounding the home turn.

Show Em Jack Rider Craig Kirkpatrick was reprimanded under the provisions of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100 meters.
