Race 4 rosebud country club maiden plate - 1200 metres:

Kelrea Commenced awkwardly shifting out. Rider M Morris stated that in her opinion the gelding is better suited to distances less than 1200 metres.

Obsolete When in questioned in relation to the vigour adopted over the final 200 metres, rider R Douglas stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages but from the 200 metres was reluctant to stride forward and inclined to get its head up. R Douglas added that over the concluding stages he felt there was something amiss with the geldings action and breathing. As such, R Douglas rode the gelding out hands and heels rather than electing to use his whip as he was concerned with the horses action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a slower than normal recovery. Stewards will be in contact with the stable in coming days to ascertain if any additional information has arisen regarding the geldings performance.

Shaw Can Slow to begin. Performed below market expectations. Rider R Goodwin could offer no explanation for the geldings poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Trainer Mr R Foster was notified that the gelding is now suspended until such time that performs competitively in a trial to the satisfaction of stewards. R Foster reported it was now his intention to retire the gelding.
