Trainer Mr B Gentle reported that the gelding had been galloped on its near hind leg.

Lubricate Commenced awkwardly shifting in and bumped with Nine Mile Sniper. Passing the 400 metres became unbalanced when awkwardly placed on the running rail. Bumped with Know This passing the 200 metres.

Know This Passing the 200 metres bumped with Lubricate which shifted in marginally away from the heels of Nine Mile Sniper.

Despict Slow to begin. Performed below market expectations. Rider C Kirkpatrick stated that the gelding, which was first up today travelled well in the early and middle stages though when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities. Rider C Kirkpatrick lost his whip passing the 300 metres.

Wild And Proud A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from a slower than normal recovery.

Race 3 JEANETTE CLARK MEMORIAL TROPHY (2) HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Toucandan R Goodwin was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR120(b) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight. As such R Goodwin was replaced by C Kirkpatrick as the rider of the mare. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Passing 900 metres when over-racing clipped the heels of Bar Date which shifted out when also over-racing. Lay in under pressure in the straight.

Bayfury Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Raced wide without cover throughout. Lay out rounding the home turn.

Bar Date Stood flat footed missing the start by 3 lengths. Dangerous Sister Passing the 1100 metres had to be steadied and became unbalanced to avoid the heels of Rampaging Jackson after initially receiving marginal pressure from that gelding shifting in, before then becoming awkwardly placed on the running rail and shifting back out abruptly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have been galloped on its left fore leg. Trainer Mr G Cluning was notified that he would be required to produce a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the mare accepting to race again.

Race 4 ALEXANDRA VETERINARY CLINIC MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:

Prior to correct weight C.Pace rider of Starlight Sun (2nd Placegetter) lodged an objection against Moss and Me being declared the winner of the race alleging interference passing the 450 metres. On evidence it was established that passing the 450 metres Moss and Me had shifted in resulting in Starlight Sun having to be checked and lose its rightful position in running. As stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered to Starlight Sun was greater than that of the margin of a neck, stewards upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the following numbers;

2. Starlight Sun (1st)

1. Moss And Me (2nd)

4. Shes A Bee (3rd)

Starlight Sun Passing the 450 metres had to be checked and lost its rightful position in running to avoid the heels of Moss And Me (M Keenan) which shifted in when insufficiently clear.

Zupaming Passing the 100 metres had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of Wany Road (C Kirkpatrick) which shifted in when not fully clear. C Kirkpatrick was notified to exercise far greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

M Keenan (Moss And Me) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a), the careless riding being that passing the 450 metres he permitted Moss And Me to shift in when insufficiently clear of Starlight Sun which had to be checked to avoid Moss And Mes heels, therefore losing its rightful position in running. M Keenan had his license to ride in picnic race meetings suspended for a period to commence midnight the 4th of March and to expire at midnight the 12th of March (2 picnic race meetings). In assessing penalty stewards took into account M Keenans guilty plea and good riding record, and that the carelessness was in the low range.

Race 5 HEDGER CONSTRUCTIONS OPEN TROPHY HANDICAP - 1300 metres:

Bred By Ted Slow to begin.

Clever Costa Passing the 1100 metres had to be checked to avoid the heels of Ultra Ego which shifted out when racing ungenerously to avoid the heels of It Could Be You (N Baxter) which shifted in when not fully clear. N Baxter was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not fully clear. Approaching the 600 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room by La Rita which shifted in when over-racing.

La Rita Over-raced in the middle stages. Passing the 600 metres when over-racing shifted in.

Ultra Ego Commenced awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. Passing the 1100 metres when over-racing had to be steadied to avoid the heels of It Could Be You (N Baxter). Approaching the 300 metres when laying out had to steadied and became unbalanced to avoid the heels of La Rita which shifted in marginally. Performed below market expectations. Rider C Pace stated that it had been her intention to lead on the mare today though was unable to muster the sufficient speed to do so. C Pace further added that when placed under pressure the mare failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
