Ms C Boyd, trainer of Tilleeva was notified that she must endeavour to declare her riders by the prescribed time. Stewards further notified Ms Boyd that the declaration time for riders would be published in the next edition of the Inside Racing publication and from that point forward, penalties for late declarations would apply.

Turning into the straight on the first occasion, Clayton Douglas rider of Tilleeva allowed his mount to stride forward in an endeavour to obtain a leading position. Tilleeva raced wide under hard riding until near the 600m before commencing to give ground and then shifted in to obtain cover.

Near the 500m Spoleto when laying in hard to shift out to avoid the heels of Tilleeva which shifted out slightly.

Spoleto layed in under pressure in the straight and over the concluding stages.

A post race veterinary examination of Keltic Thorn which performed poorly and was beaten a considerable distance to finish last revealed no abnormalities.

A post race swab sample was taken from Silver Clip, winner of the race for analysis.

Race 2 – kelly quirke maiden handicap 1000 metres:

Blanc Losange and Casablanca jumped away awkwardly.

Big Vee hung out for the majority of the event. In the straight Big Vee when hanging out shifted out and brushed Casablanca.

A post race swab sample was taken from Big Vee, second placegetter for analysis.

Race 3 – john white memorial trophy race (2) handicap 1200 metres:

On jumping away Narby Lad was hampered when tightened for room between Een Leven and and Rosa Cheval which shifted in slightly. Shortly after this Narby Lad had to be eased to avoid the heels of Een Leven which shifted out.

Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Narby Lad was held up when unable to obtain a clear run. Narby Lad was then obliged to change course and shift wider on the track to obtain clear running.

Rosa Cheval raced wide without cover throughout.

Rounding the home turn Narby Lad, when improving quickly had to be checked to avoid the heels of Racing Rosie.

Rhonda Mangan, rider of Een Leven which performed below expectations explained that in her opinion the gelding resented racing between runners today and was under pressure from near the 500m. R Mangan further added that the gelding felt normal in his action upon return to scale.

Race 4 – heat 4 brian bren crv/vba picnic racing sprinters series 1200 metres:

Raymond Douglas was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.120(b) for being unable to fulfil his engagement on Raikkonen due to being overweight. Stewards took into account that Mr Douglas had not offended in this area in recent times.

Correct weight was delayed to afford the connections of Valdavi the opportunity to view the photo finish image who agreed with the judges’ decisions and therefore correct weight was declared.

Sing Or Swim knuckled on jumping away and lost ground.

Vixenite was slow to begin.

Rounding the home turn and the early part of the straight Papasan was held up for clear running. Near the 150m Valdavi had to be eased when tightened for room by Papasan (Adam Bodey) which when hanging in, shifted in abruptly. Stewards noted the racing manners of Papasan on this occasion however notified Adam Bodey to exercise care when in similar circumstances in future.

After passing the 100mSebastians Tart was inconvenienced and had to be eased when tightened for room by Vixenite (Clayton Douglas) which shifted in. Clayton Douglas was notified to exercise far greater care when shifting ground in future.

Whitney Hurst rider of Sebastians Tart (4 placegetter) was notified to ensure that she rides all her mounts out to the end of the race. Stewards took into consideration that Sebastians Tart, Ms Hurst’s mount was inconvenienced in the closing stages of the race.

A post race veterinary examination of Sing Or Swim which performed below expectation revealed no abnormality. Matthew Cooper trainer of Sing Or Swim undertook to notify stewards in the coming days of anything that comes to light which may have affected the geldings performance.


Race 5 – no fuss solutions healesville cup 1650 metres:

Wings On Track was slow to muster early speed settling at the rear of the field.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on Phantom Flight, Danielle Daniel explained that after beginning well she elected to stride forward anticipating to obtain the position outside the leader, however this position was not relented for some distance and Phantom Flight then raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Ms Daniel further added that she was reluctant to restrain due to the 74kg weight being carried by Phantom Flight, as in her opinion he would be unable to sprint with the field and would be better suited to being on the pace. Ms Daniel conceded that in hindsight she may have been better to restrain earlier and obtain a position with cover behind the leading pair to afford her mount every opportunity to finish the race off.

Whitney Hurst rider of Beat The Heat explained on return to the mounting yard that the cross over noseband worn by the gelding had broken during the running of the race and for this reason she was unable to restrain the gelding to obtain cover. She further added that it had been the intention of the stable to ride Beat The Heat in a forward position today however conceded that there was more speed in the race than she had anticipated. Stewards noted her explanation on this occasion.

A routine swab sample was taken from Music Lover, winner of the race for analysis.

Race 6 – essential caterer trophy race (3) handicap 1650 metres:

The start of this race was delayed due to Bubbly Black becoming fractious enroute to the barrier, dislodging rider Danielle Daniel and returning to the stripping stalls area. Bubbly Black was returned to the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and passed fit to start. Danielle Daniel was examined by the clubs doctor and passed fit to fulfil her engagement.

Miss Vanucci overraced in the early and middle stages.

Miss O’Toole and Princess Fubu raced wide in the early and middle stages.

In the straight Miss Vanucci had to be eased when tightened for room between Mick’s Gift and Tuscany Lad which both shifted ground.

A post race veterinary examination of Princess Fubu which performed below market expectations revealed no abnormalities.
