Race 1
The first of the day went to the Goodwins with Pantops. Trained by Barry and superbly ridden by Reece who took the rails run on the turn and drew clear to win the 1050m Trophy (2) by a length.
$3.40 favourite Ace King performed below market expectations by finishing 14.2 lengths off the winner. Rider Clay Beasy stated that in his opinion the gelding failed to back up from its race at Colac on the 22nd of January. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on the post race veterinary examination.

Race 2
The Quilly Park Open Trophy Handicap over 1050m was won by the Brendan Woodman trained Rich Tycoon. Jockey Clay Beasy took the $2.25 favourite straight to the front and led all the way to win by 1.25 lengths.

Race 3
After running second in its last two starts, Taqneen trained by Mick Bell, won on its third attempt at the picnics. Impressively bred by Lonhro from Makybe Diva and ridden by Courtney Pace, the race favourite ran home strongly to beat I Was Stan by 1.75 lengths. The Soprano finished third, 4.25 lengths from the winner after being slow to begin once again.

Race 4
The 2016 Quilly Park Balnarring Cup over 1600m saw the return of Adam Bodey to the saddle aboard Onya Keithy. Trained by Ricky Maund of Cranbourne, the gelding despite carrying 74kg flew down the outside and ran down Casinoholic to win by half a length. The top weight was sent out a $4 favourite in an open betting race.

Race 5
In just its second start, With Attitude broke its maiden status in the 1200m Maiden Plate. Trained by Paul Kramer of Pakenham, the 3 year old gelding with Reece Goodwin aboard, started race favourite, held off Silent Dance and Lunar Watch to win by two lengths. It was a double to Reece Goodwin, who also rode the winner of the first.

Race 6
A small field of five contested the 1200m Trophy (3). Freshwater Reset trained by Kevin Carrolan and ridden by Leigh Taylor cruised to the front 400m out and went on to win easily by 3.75 lengths, with The Tale Of Aver finishing second. The team has now won three from their last three starts.
