It was a close finish in the first, the 1000m Maiden Plate, with Stan The Man, pipping the favourite, Sir Wolf on the line by 0.1 of a length. Ridden by Max Keenan and trained by John Allen, Stan The Man was cheered home by the punters after being backed in from $15 to $8.
Razor Ray Douglas boots home his first winner since January 2014 aboard Rich Tycoon trained by Brendan Woodman. Sent out favourite, the 6yo gelding held off the fast finishing Avon Country to win by 0.75 of a length.
Favourite High Richdane kept up its great form winning the 1200m Trophy (3) Handicap. Reluctant to proceed to the barriers and slow to begin, the mare raced on to win by a length. It’s three wins, a second and a third from five starts this season, for trainer Tracey Josephs and jockey Matthew Corbisiero.
Another win for the Goodwins and Lady Dundee. Just six days after winning at Mansfield, Lady Dundee ridden by Reece and trained by father Barry won the 1650m Trophy (2) beating the favourite Keep Happy by 1.25 lengths. The mare has now won three of its five starts this season.
The Soprano eliminated his opposition winning the 1650m trophy (1) by 2.75 lengths. Trained by Robert Kingston of Mornington and ridden by Toby Lake, the gelding scored its second win for the season. The favourite, Mozart’s Dream performed below market expectations. Jockey, Courtney Pace could offer no explanation for the performance, while a post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.
The Waymouths, jockey Debbie and trainer Rebecca, teamed to win the last with Tearaway Tommy. Jumping from barrier one, last year’s Healesville Cup winner and race favourite, went straight to the front and lead all the way to win the 1650 Open Trophy by nine lengths.
