Balnarring Report
by Brad Best
Pleasant conditions greeted spectators at Emu Plains Reserve on Saturday for the final meeting at Balnarring for the 2013/14 picnic racing season. A magnificent crowd attended, soaking up the relaxed atmosphere on the front lawn and cheering on their favourites under a sparkling autumn sky.
Riding honours went to Clay Beasy who rode a fantastic double from just three race rides. In race two, Beasy took the reins of topweight Bemarydan, steering the six-year-old gelding to the front and kicking away in the straight to win by one-and-a-half lengths. He notched up his double in the fourth, sitting just off the pace on seven-year-old gelding Umanugget before taking control of the race in the straight for a one length victory.
In other races, the ageless Debbie Waymouth kicked off the day in style with an all-the-way win in the first on board four-year-old gelding Pure Kerosene.
