Two Cups and a Wedding
It was a big weekend of picnic racing with the running of the Balnarring and Yea Cups along with the wedding of picnic jockey Rob Kirkpatrick and his bride Shelley Kelly at the Yea racetrack.
The Australia Day meeting at Balnarring once again attracted a large crowd and the weather was perfect for a picnic at the races.
The Balnarring Cup went to Anyone Seen Digger who won in a photo from the Quilly Park trained Itpaidov by the shortest of margins. Ridden by Matthew Corbisiero and trained by Michael Templeton this lightly raced 5yog was having only its 9th race start.
Ever improving apprentice Clay Beasy rode a double aboard the David Brown trained He's Ready in the first race and closed out the meeting in the final race aboard the Carlo Vidotto trained The Best.

The Yea Cup ran on Sunday and not only did we see Clayton Douglas steer home Cavallo to an easy victory but picnic jockey Rob Kirkpatrick decided to tie the knot at the meeting. The wedding was conducted on the racetrack at the finish post, with the bride arriving in an open top sports car. The jockeys for the day formed a guard of honour and the guests and public got to witness a first at a picnic race meeting.

Congratulations to Rob and Shelley.
