It was a challenging day at Healesville with the warm weather and the strong northerly wind creating havoc for the local area. Power was lost within both the township and the racetrack from about race 3 onwards.
Races 3 and 4 were run without the aid of the racecaller Bill Quin which created an eerie atmosphere. Punters had to watch the events without the familar voice of the caller giving guidance to who was where in the running.
Despite the challenges of wind and power, the racing went on and overall it was a good day of picnic racing. The ever improving 8yo Mick's Gift won in a narrow finish to welcome jockey Simon Stoll back to the winner's list. As usual Adam Bodey rode a double with the rest of the races shared around.
