Mirages Breaks Her Maiden Status to Win Stonelea Alexandra Cup
A big crowd was in attendance at the 2011 Stonelea Alexandra Cup which was won by the Ron Stageman trained Mirages. Mirages had previously raced 27 times without registering a win and much to the delight of picnic racing racecaller Benjamin Sporle who has an interest in the mare she broke her duck in the Cup.
Settling at the rear of the race the 5yo mare gradually reeled in Tilleeva who had skipped away from them down the hill to win well.
A riding double to both Craig Kirkpatrick and Adam Bodey were also highlights of the day with punters getting 4 of the 6 favourites home.
