The Sister Olive to the Chief

Yea conducted its annual "Sister Olive" 3000m Open Hcp and this year it attracted a strong field of seven starters. The race went to dour stayer Chief Thunderwing who tested them all by putting the pressure on going up the hill and opened up a big break on entering the straight. The move was a good one by jockey Leigh Taylor as none of the other runners could make any ground and the winner won in a canter by 15 lengths.

Another hightlight of the day was the 1200m Open Trophy taken out by Prince Rhubarb. The 9yo gelding was having only its second after more than a 3 year layoff and won well from the heavily backed Rosecoloredglasses.

Benjamin On the Up

Race 3 was a chance for up and coming young racecaller Benjamin Sporle to show his wares by calling the race.

A great effort for someone so young and early in his calling career. I expect we will hear more calls from Benjamin.
