It was good to see a mixing up of the jockey honours yesterday at Woolamai with newcomer Tyson Buck and regular Leigh Taylor both riding doubles. The predicted showers stayed away and there was a good crowd in attendance for the Woolamai track opener for the season.

There was some great racing with the opening event going to the lightly raced improver High Kinglana. The second saw the class horse of the field Cape Danger with the large impost of 71.5kg storm down the outside to win easily. The next three races were all won by horses who had won their previous picnic starts, Winglesia, Trojan of Troy and High Czarmonty.

High Czarmonty made it five picnic wins and four on end for trainer Tracey Josephs. This consistent son of Dangerous keeps improving and has now won five of its six picnic starts. The final race went to Sheza Ranga who just outlasted Questrian in a photo. Consistent last season this 5yo mare trained by Allison Sheehan looks to have returned where it left off last season.

It is a weekend off next week for picnic followers with no meeting scheduled. We return the following week at Balnarring for their Xmas meeting which is always a success.
