Report for Healesville 1st March 2008
The weather was perfect and a good crowd turned out for the Healesville meeting on Saturday where Warrigal Tom showed them yet again how to win a race.

The first event was an open betting affair but resulted in the first and second favourites battling it out Go to picture gallerywith the top two leading jockeys on board. Kane Harris got the upper hand ensuring his mount Always Matilda at $4-00 did not go around a horse and came through on the rails to win in a tight finish from Barravore Lady with Manazab running home strongly for third.

The favourite Lucky Petric looked a good thing on paper and despite the wide barrier went equal to the lead early and won with something in hand at $1.70 from Coolibah Kid and Wintaker. Two races down and Kane Harris had ridden an early double.

Race three was difficult to sort out on form with Frilling winning at $6-00. Ben Wade led from barrier one, controlled the race and kicked in the straight to win comfortably from Jan Bleu.

Race four was Heat 5 of the Picnic Racing Middle Distance Series event and bookmakers decided Go to picture galleryWarrigal Tom was a risk in this race and offered the big odds of $4.40 despite having won eight from ten picnic starts this season. With John Fitzgerald on board and claiming 2kgs he once again proved too strong in the finish to beat Dis Reply and Bridges of Babylon for third. That was win ten for John who has now outridden his weight claim.

Race five was won by Cassa's Lottery at $3.70 who came from midfield under hard riding by Adam Bodey to win from Toro.

The final event was a photo finish between Ronrenza at $8-00 and the $2-30 favourite Seamstress with Ronrenza getting the nod on the outside and giving Ben Wade a double for the day.
