Note: The Yea meeting scheduled for December 1st 2007 has been abandoned.

Healesville 17th November 2007 - A somewhat disappointing day from the race fields perspective at Healesville on Saturday with two fields of three and one of four after scratchings on the six race program. Although some of the fields were small the racing was competitive with close finishes in two of them. Nonetheless, the weather was again fine, the track performed well and a large crowd was in attendance to enjoy the day.
Riding honours to Kane Harris with a double on the consistent Gleneve and first time picnic starter Sparkly Winks. Like last week with Scold, Charmaine Barnes this time presented Gleneve for a first up win. Racing on the outside of the leader Cape Cod Kid and with 4.5kg more, the 8yo mare fought doggedly to the line to just get up in the last stride. (See video below).

Final 400m of the tussle between Gleneve and Cape Cod Kid. Third placegetter, the well backed Yonnie missed the start and was always under the pump.

Full results can be obtained from Picnic Race Results along with the Stewards report.

Next meeting Woolamai 24th November 2007 - This week we begin the season for Woolamai racetrack and the weather is predicted to be a perfect 24 degrees. Woolamai always attracts strong entries given the number of trainers and horses located in the district. You can get an online formguide and tips for this meeting on Friday evening from the Picnic Formguides page. There will be a new larger print guide optionally available from this week to help those having trouble with the smaller print on the original guide. Good luck this week !!
